Perfect for Calzones!
This is a CALZONE press, not dumplings, with a HUGE 2"H interior pocket space! Just what I needed! The crimping doesn't create as nice an edge I would like, probably because pizza dough is much more elastic so doesn't hold shape well.Wish the crimping edge had a little sharp edge like the bottom to trim access dough as it crimps. Also, it hasn't happened yet (will update when does) but the hinges are very flimsy and I expect they will break eventually. The sides fall apart from one another often. If this item was aluminum or steel, would help with durability.

Too large for me, but maybe not for you
So I bought the large calzone forming press thinking that it would help me make prettier calzones. It is the size of a small pizza folded in half, which ends up being at least big enough for 2 people. Yeah I am complaining about a silly thing, but I just thought it would be a little smaller. Maybe I thought that it would be more individual size, or at least a 1/3 smaller than it is. Oh well. Anyways, the press itself is pretty flimsy and I felt like I was going to break it the first day while trying it out. I am sorry that it bought it and wished I bought one in the store that I could have picked up and worked. So I definitely wouldn't suggest any of my friends or maybe not even my enemies to pick this product. I guess I will go back to just making them by hand. Seems easier that way too.

Just what I was looking for.
I have a number of these pie, empanada makers. Some in sets of various sizes, others as single sizes. They generally range from pierogi size to about 3X6 inches. I bought some sold as jumbo, but again about 3X6. This is what I was looking for, approx 6X12, it's huge, it really is meal sized. 1 pie from this and you're good to go. Seems well made, but I don't use these kinds of things as a hammer, seems some people do. I see no reason why it should break. All in all I'm glad I got this.

This is HUGE!
Woe! This thing is HUGE! Just looking at it, I'm craving a cheesy calzone! Looks well made. I haven't used it yet, it just arrived today. I'll update after use.***UPDATE***Well, I used it, and I found that I had to flour my dough and/or the press edges to keep my dough from sticking to the press after sealing it closed. But it made PERFECTLY large calzones!! I love it! No regrets with this purchase!

It's large but effective.
Be advised, this is a Huge kitchen helper. It says large in the description, and believe me, they are not fibbing. That being said, it works great and seals the dough perfectly when used correctly. Pretty cool for making your own calzones quickly and easily. I even tried to make an apple fritter and it worked too.

great for making Cornish pasty
like this for making Cornish Pasty. Like that the pocket for the filling is large, and the hinge can offset to make as large a pocket as i want. That's great. It might actually be somewhat too large for a single serving of pasty. I wonder if you have one that measures about 9 or 9.5 inches in the long dimension?

They will be HUGE calzones
It will do the job nicely. I have tow tips.1) Coat it slightly with Pam spray or equivalent.2) Don't bother to use it to cut the dough. Just roll it, place it on top of the press, fill, fold and the cut the excess.

Well made but be warned. ITS HUGE
bought this to make cornish pasties, saw a few negative reviews from people complaining that it was too small to be a calzone press and instead would only be suitable for cornish pasties so I thought PERFECT! And bought it- it's nicely made but its definitely far too big to make cornish pasties with...

Great cutter.
I use it for pastry. It works beautifully even if my edges are not as good as in the picture it makes a good pasty shape. With any type of pasty, don't overfill. Wish I had had one years ago.

Not great for the money
Sadly I can't give this one a great review. To begin with it's very expensive for what it is. It's also quite difficult to use, the dough can get trapped in the middle when you close it. It is pretty large though which is what I wanted. I was expecting better to be honest. It works, but for the money I wouldn't buy it again.

Sturdy
Well made and quite cavernous for a generous quantity of filling. The down side is that it does not trim off the excess pastry, unlike my other pasty maker.
