These pads can not be used with non induction pans, they must have a magnetic base.They work very well with the appropriate saucepans and give a true indication of the maximum heating size of the induction hob.I used a 27cm cast iron pan on the 24cm mat. As advertised the triangles on the pad changed colour which proved what I already knew, my hob heating element is very small. The hob ring measures 18cm but the heat is only generated in the central 15cm.The pads work as advertised and the heat comes through instantly, there is no hindrance at all. They will definitely protect the glass hob and they cool down pretty quickly afterwards.I highly recommend these if you are looking to protect your induction hob while cooking with induction appropriate pans. I merely glanced over the description alas and had hoped to use them with non induction pans, they didn't work.
