Useful for connecting Nintendo Switch to Meta Quest 3
My sole purpose in getting this was to be able to connect my Nintendo Switch to my Meta Quest 3 headset. The V69 software update introduced a free app called HDMI Link. With this app, one can connect certain devices to the Quest and essentially use the Quest as a screen for the device (one could previously do this if you sideloaded an Android USB Camera APK). There are some pieces of hardware required to make this work, though. The most important one is a capture card. With the Switch, it can be connected to the Quest while in docked or portable mode. When docked, the Switch receives power through the dock, and there is an HDMI out port. When not docked, you have to use the USB-C port on the Switch. Additionally, you’re likely going to want or need power going to the Switch and the Quest. For the Quest, I recommend an OTG dongle that has a male USB-C end to connect to the Quest. It would also need a USB-C power port to connect either a battery or cable that connects to a charger, and it would need a USB port, whether it be a USB-C or a USB 3.0 (or higher) port to connect into from your source device. The reason I recommend this is that it’s small, and if you have a headset with a battery pack incorporated into it, it’s very easy to use that to deliver power. Alternatively, you might be able to use a USB-C hub, probably with an extension cable, that has a power port on it, which, if connected to a charger, could provide unlimited power.Docked, you can get away with a capture card that has an HDMI input and a PD port and a USB-C or USB-A 3.0 (+) output. If it doesn’t have a PD port for power, you’ll likely want to have an additional device between the capture card and the Quest to provide power.Undocked, you would need a device that is USB-C to HDMI that has a PD port to charge the Switch and then the capture card that connects from that device to the Quest, preferably with a PD port or an additional device between the capture card and the Quest.I connected the USB-C cable to the Switch while undocked. I then connected a charging cable to the PD port to power the Switch. I connected an HDMI cable from the HDMI port on this to a capture card, which I connected to the Quest. If a capture card with a PD port is used, you can power the Quest with that, or you can use something like an OTG dongle with a PD port, which is particularly convenient if your headset has a battery. This worked perfectly for my purposes, so I’m happy with it.

A Must-Have Compact Adapter for On-the-Go Connectivity
This USB C to HDMI Multiport Adapter has quickly become one of those gadgets I can’t imagine traveling without. If you’ve ever juggled multiple adapters to connect your laptop or phone to a monitor, charge it, and plug in a USB peripheral all at once, this little device is going to simplify your life.Design & Portability:One of the first things that struck me about this adapter is its compact size. It’s small enough to toss into your travel bag without taking up much space, but it’s sturdy, thanks to its aluminum shell. It feels well-built and has held up well so far, even after being shoved into a backpack with other gear.Functionality:This adapter really shines in its versatility. It has three ports: an HDMI output, a USB 3.0 port, and a USB C charging port. I’ve used it with both my Windows laptop and my MacBook, and it works flawlessly with both. The HDMI port supports 4K output, so whether I’m connecting to a monitor for work or a TV to stream something, the picture quality is spot on.The USB 3.0 port is great for connecting a mouse, keyboard, or even an external drive. The data transfer speeds are impressive – I was able to transfer a large video file in no time. Plus, the 100W USB C charging port means I can keep my device powered up while using the other ports, which is a huge plus.Ease of Use:One of the best things about this adapter is how easy it is to use. It’s truly plug-and-play, with no drivers needed. Just connect it, and you’re good to go. This makes it ideal for quick setups in different locations – whether I’m working at a client’s office or setting up a temporary workspace at home.A Few Considerations:There are a couple of things to keep in mind. First, while the adapter works great with devices that support video output via USB C, it’s important to ensure your device is compatible – not all phones and tablets will work with it. Also, since it only has one USB 3.0 port, you might need a USB hub if you’re planning to connect multiple peripherals.Final Thoughts:Overall, this USB C to HDMI Multiport Adapter is a fantastic tool for anyone who needs a reliable, portable solution for connecting devices on the go. It’s small, functional, and easy to use, making it a no-brainer addition to your travel gear. If you’re looking for a simple way to connect your laptop or phone to a monitor, keep it charged, and still have a USB port available, this adapter is a solid choice.
