Very Useful Engine Diagnostics Device For VW & Other Brands.
Very useful engine scanner, particularly for those with a VW. It helps to identify error codes stored in a car's electronic systems so that problems can be fixed more quickly and at lower cost than if the car is taken to a garage. It shows VW error codes as well as the generic ODB error codes. These can then be searched for on the internet to see how they can be solved. It doesn't pick up or identify every problem, but is well worth the money.

Affordable VAG scanner, helpful for the DIYer.
Great product at an affordable price. Needed for replacing pads and rotors on a -11 VW Sharan. Only issue was that under the menu for EPBReplaceBrakepads you have the options to "retract and/or release brake pump" which was a bit confusing since the EPB doesn't have a "pump". Ancel instruction manual leaves alot to wish for and their support couldn't answer my question if by "pump" they meant "motor". Asked the same question here on Amazon and the seller got back to me within 12h and confirmed my suspicion that it indeed was for retracting/releasing EPB MOTOR. Worked like a charm, also cleared a fault code on the EPB module. Software update wasn't an issue, just be aware of what version you have BEFORE updating so as to get the correct new Firmware from the Ancel website. Happy with the product overall, would recommend to anyone who is in the market for an affordable VAG scanner.

Easy … fast … worth the money
Great item …. Easy to use … within 2-3 mins I’d discovered 4 electronic issues with our Tiguan … non serious … fault reset … would recommend!!!

Cleared the airbag fault on Polo 6R
Bought to clear an airbag fault on my Polo 6R that i created when changing the window regulator. it did the job in just a few minutes. much more capable than the basic OBD device i had. it would have cost more just for the garage to plug in and diagnose, then more to clear. will possibly come in handy for the future.

Did just what I needed it to do.
Now, I've only used the reader once, and it has, I hope, identified my car's problem. I got an ABS warning light come up on my Polo dash, and panicked. It's a £250 car, but with only 30,000 miles on it. An ABS pump costs £800+! My old code reader didn't find anything, (It's paid for itself already, though, having identified a coolant temperature sensor as the cause of the car's failure to start)) and delving into the rear hub assemblies and cleaning the (huge quantities of) brake dust from the reluctor rings and wheel speed sensors didn't achieve anything. Experience with cleaning up previous cars' wheel speed sensor assemblies had led me to be optimistic... My local VW specialist had disappointed me in the past (costing me two days pay to diagnose what transpired to be a common, easily diagnosable fault, and charging £80 to replace a 50p component...) so I avoid them now I'm retired and have more time, less money. The unit itself seems reasonably robust, easy to use, and has a clear display (though I, stupidly, didn't follow the menu correctly, and didn't get my diagnosis immediately...) It wouldn't read my VW's VIN number, which was disappointing, but my previous reader wouldn't, either. whereas it would read the SAAB's VIN... The Ancel said I'd got a faulty rear offside wheel speed sensor, which made sense, and saved me investigating all four corners by substitution. I'll come back when the ABS light has gone, and the car's passed its next MOT (imminent, and adding to my stress levels...) Looking good so far, though. Just came back to say that I fitted a £10 Delphi wheel speed sensor bought on ebay, and connected it temporarily to the loom under the rear seat, allowing me to erase the fault and extinguish the warning light, showing that that particular wheel sensor was the root of my problem. Sensor's properly installed, now, cable routed and connected, and car's been road tested. Marvellous! One job and the scanner's paid for itself as far as I'm concerned.

Very disappointing, stay away if you own a newer Skoda
Very disappointing. Read loads of reviews in advance as I wanted it specifically to rewind the brake pistons on my 2022 Skoda Octavia VRS, but unfortunately the EPB function does not work on the 2022 model. Even after the upgrade to the latest version of the software it could not carry out the function. So had to bring the car to the main dealer to carry out the function and replace the pads and discs for me. Cost another €100 just to have the brakes rewound. It does read other fault codes, but could not carry out the basic function I purchased it for.

The Ancel OBD 500 scanner was easy to use. I used to retract the rear electric parking brakes on my 2016 VW Tiguan in order to replace the brakes pads. All went well, I recommend it, and the price is reasonable. JV

In 10 minuti è tutto fatto.
