Very sharp and thin blade that is great for flush cutting, or fine cuts
This saw is based on a Japanese pull saw design, where the saw cuts on the backwards pull stroke. This has a big advantage over a western saw as the teeth dont need to be set (where the teeth are bent outwards) which means you can get incredibly neat and thin cuts. Its ideal for fine cabinet joinery where you want a very neat and accurate cut.It also has a very useful feature where one side of the blade is a fine crosscut tooth for cutting across the grain and the other side has courser rip cut teeth for cutting along the grain. This means you can flip the saw over instead of having to use another saw. The rip cut teeth start off smaller and gradually get courser, which makes starting the cut a lot easier.I love the long handle, which gives you a lot of control. It looks unwieldy, but is actually very well balanced an feels great in the hand. The blade is bolted to the handle, so you can remove it for storage, and replace it when it gets dull.Overall I am very happy with this pull saw. Its well made and works very well.

Very usefull for tight cuts
If you've ever had to make tight cuts with very little clearance (for instance cutting the bottom of a doorframe for a floor installation) you know very well that this is extremely difficult with regular tools, as they will always be at an angle. This Japanese pull saw however is the exact tool you would need for a job like that as it is incredibly thin and bendabl;e, making it much easier to position yourself for a cut like this.To add to this, the blade is actually very sharp, so you will need less backwards and forwards motion to perform your cut.The saw comes in three parts, which also makes it rather compact when not in use, though this does require assembly every time you want to use it.Given the fact that this is disassemblable, I think it is a missed opportunity to make the tool foldable, as it would eliminate the need for a screwdriver every time you want to do some cutting.Overall though, this is a very decent tool, would recommend!

Sharp, Cuts Clean, Simple
So I will admit to some skepticism about a Japanese style saw,, sold by a company with a Scandinavian name, and made in China. But so far, those concerns seem to be unfounded. For its oddball international pedigree, the saw handle is of a good size to both easily handle and reach. The basic blade that came with the set has two sets of teeth, fine teeth on one side and coarser teeth on the other. Both were quite adequately sharp out of the box and cut wood easily and cleanly with no stuttering on the starting strong. As one might expect the finer tooth side cut in smaller chunks and provided a smoother cut surface. The larger tooth side cut more quickly removing more wood on each stroke, but even used across the grain was relatively smooth. The Assembly and attachment of the replacement blade was quite simple with a single specialized screw and blade nut. Conveniently the set included a small, fairly robust but plastic handle screwdriver for that purpose. Driver is also magnetized making it easier to put the saw back together. This is not a saw for bulk or gross timber cutting and shaping, but is best suited to cutting fine pieces for joints etc. For that purpose it appears to be Decent quality especially for a man made handle material. Of course only time and usage will tell if the screw holding on the blade loosens or has other issues, or if the handle lacks robustness. Anything further negative develops over time, this review will be updated. For the moment, it appears to be a very handy blade to get in and make careful cuts where neither a power tool nor a traditional western hand saw would make sense. It does cut very fine and smooth.

Great Saw...
There are only 2 things on this saw that I think could have been done a little better, and neither are really about cutting ability. So if you don't care about my thoughts, get this saw. It'll be a 5 star item for you.Ok, due to the detachable blade design, this really should've been able to fold up. Or if not, it should have a scabbard to hold the pieces. I'd also like it to have been able to lock in at an angle. Not just straight up. If you want it straight up, make it a single piece. Those are minor gripes. I do really like the blade. Very sharp and with multiple tpi ratings it has hard and softwoods covered. The blade is very flexible and is Japenese steel. The handle is light and confortable. I like that the blade can be changed. All in all this is an excellent saw by a very reputable company. The price is good as well. This is a solid addition for any woodworker.

Really a good example of a Japanese style saw
I've used many Japanese style saws for decades- if you are not aware, they are defined by the saw cutting on the pull stroke, rather than the push stroke as do traditional European style hand saws. This allows for the blades to be made thinner (as they cut when in tension) and have a smaller kerf. While there are many types of Japanese saws for specific purposes, this is a more general purpose version. Typically on this type of general purpose saw there are two sides- one with larger teeth for ripping, and one with finer teeth for crosscutting. The teeth (on the ripping side at least) are variable in size, so you can select between cutting smaller or larger pieces of wood depending on where in the blade you are working. The quality of this saw is excellent, and yes, this does appear to be from the Jorgensen company of clamp fame. The blade is shipped unattached, and a single bolt secures it. It is therefor presumably replaceable- while possible, these saws are not easy to sharpen. However the high quality steel stays sharp a long time. While this may suffer a bit aesthetically compared to some of my older wood handled, bamboo wrapped saws, I think the rubbery, grippy plastic handle is better for actual work. If I only had one handsaw in my woodworking arsenal, I'd want it to be one like this.
