Can this unit trace the hdmi signal from source to destination through an hdbaset conversion?

Yes, this unit can do test both ways: As a source it will measure input characteristics of the HDBT system. As a sink, it will measure if the correct signal is provided. Of course if you have access to both inputs and outputs of your HDBT system, it will test the complete system. To do this, connect output from tester to the input of the HDBT setup and output of the HDBT to the input of the tester. You may want to check the YouTube training video on this generator.
