EXCELLENT VALUE ALTERNATIVE TO AN LED MAGNIFYING GLASS!
PROS:1) EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY. DECENT QUALITY2) MORE VERSATILE THAN AN ILLUMINATED MAGNIFIER3) CAPTURES HIGH RESOLUTION IMAGES4) PORTABILITY: USE EITHER POWER OR INTERNAL RECHARGEABLE BATTERY5) IDEAL CHOICE FOR MINIATURE PAINTERS/MODELLERSCONS:1) A LITTLE FLIMSY2) IN BUILT LEDs NOT ENOUGH FOR CLEAR PICTURES3) NO USE AS A SCIENTIFIC TOOL (WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FOR THE MONEY!!)I bought this after looking long and hard at illuminated glass magnifiers. I'm about to get back into plastic kit modelling and my eyes aren't what they were when I was 10 years old, no surprise really! It's decent quality, though some components feel a little flimsy, most components are decent quality. It comes disassembled and assembly is easy, it doesn't take a great deal of brain power. ONE THING TO NOTE: there is a lens dust cap on the microscope which needs to be removed before use.I haven't actually started to use it for painting, however, I have started to examine the miniatures from the game Scythe, which I intend to paint. (Scythe is a great game....buy it!) I was surprised at the level of detail that you can achieve with this microscope. What look to be smooth, seamless surfaces on the Scythe character miniatures are actually very badly affected by flash (the over-pouring of plastic in the mould). They will need a lot of sanding. However, to the naked eye, they look perfect. These miniatures are probably around 2cm tall, including the base. ANOTHER thing to note, is that the inbuilt LED illumination is completely insufficient to prevent graininess on the screen. If you add another light source, your screen view will be almost perfect. This "microscope" is not really suitable for scientific study, the magnification is insufficient. This, however, would be an ideal gift for a child who's parents want to encourage at school. It has significant magnification for basic investigation and will save spending hundreds on an optical microscope before finding out if the child is interested. You may be wondering why I have given it 5 stars, when there are a couple of fundamental flaws. It's because the value for money, performance per pound ratio, is very high. I know it's not for everyone, and some more experienced miniature modellers will say it's no good, but from my perspective it's perfect. BUY IT, IT'S DOTTORE APPROVED!

VERY HANDY
A NICE LITTLE MICROSCOPE WITH A 4.3 SCREEN, WHICH IS VERY CLEAR. IT IS SO SIMPLE TO SET UP AND USE. IT CAN BE RECHARGED USING A USB CABLE WHICH IS SUPPLIED. IT IS SO EASY TO ASSEMBLE AND READY TO GO. IT CAME WITH A PARTLY CHARGED BATTERY, SO IT CAN BE USED STRAIGHT AWAY. I PLUG IT INTO MY PC SO THAT IT IS FULLY CHARGED ON A REGULAR BASIS. ON THE FRONT OF THE SCREEN ARE FIVE BUTTONS INDICATING THEIR USE. OVERALL A GOOD MACHINE FOR COIN CLEANING AND IT HAS MANY OTHER USES. THE ONLY DRAW BACK IS THAT THE MANUAL PRINTING IS VERY SMALL. I WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMMEND THIS ITEM

Not much use for solder work
All in all, and for the price, a decent Microscope. But, the image suggests using it with PCBs, and that I would not recommend. The picture is fine, but as soon as you take the heat gun or iron to the PCB, the base of the Microscope would just melt! It's made of plastic!! If you just wonna see what's in ur bogies, it's great! Blown away!
This is absolutely unbelievable how much detail you see on the in-built screen. The quality of the microscope is brilliant. It's easy to focus and out lerforms my wildest expectations. It's good fun for all the family looking at things like flies and leaves etc under the microscope. Excellent value for money.

Good rate and easily to use for child’s but the button too hard to move up or down. Over all is fine

Brilliant digital microscope
To be honest, I didn't have very high expectations, given the price point. I just thought it might be worth giving it a go. However, I was blown away with this digital microscope! And so has everybody I have shown it to!I needed something to allow me to solder surface mount PCBs without getting my head too close, because of the risk of burning my face with the soldering iron. I have goggles, which allow me to see in detail what I was doing, but I was never happy about the close proximity of my iron. This microscope solves the problem perfectly! The quality of the 7 inch screen image is more than adequate for my needs. It is light but sturdy and can be disassembled after use to save space if needed. It is rechargeable so you don't need wires trailing across your work desk. If you have the need, you can take screen shots or video onto a SSD card (not included) and you can also connect it to your laptop (and hence a TV) should you want to give live presentations to an audience. It even comes with a remote control device!I am thoroughly impressed with this microscope and would recommend it without hesitation.

Waste of money - not a microscope
This is not a microscope: it's a 4x magnifier with an lcd monitor. It magnifies 4 times. Anything else suggested in the blurb is misdirection. Forget any effective magnification beyond 4x. Mine came with a faulty screw anyway. I'll be sending this plastic toy back to Amazon. Grossly misadvertised. Don't waste your time or money. Buy a magnifying glass instead.

Not for serious use.
It's a childs toy. 50 - 1200 magnification is wildly optimistic. I have a hand held 100-500x mag which out performs this on the lowest setting. It is fun for the grandchildren though.
