It's the Swiss Army Knife of USB C hubs
Apple decided to force loyal MBP customers to buy hubs to connect peripherals we use daily. That discussion is for another time and place. Most of us have researched several hubs for the right combination of ports. They all have strengths and limitations. The ALLFU hub is no different. This is the Swiss Army knife of hubs. It has two USB c ports; one more than the hub I originally bought. It has more USB 3 ports than others; Enough to use a wireless mouse, USB Mac keyboard, and printer at the same time.Esthetically, I rate it 3/5. It's bigger than other hubs. If ALLFU can close the distance between the usb slots, it could shrink to a managable size.If they could put the HDMI connector on the top end of the hub, it would be down to the size of my current hub: The size of a pack of gum.The finish looks dull and I worry it may scratch easily.Functionally, I rate it 4/5. You have to turn the usb plugs upside down to connect. If you have slots on the right side for the hub, it's fine. The connections are sold and snug. My USB Mac keyboard works; not so with the other hub. The rubber bottom is practical--it won't slip on a desk or table. It's more expensive than other hubs. But it's the Swiss Army knife of hubs. And if you're a MBP user, you need something.Despite my concerns, I endorse the ALLFU USB C hub for the 2017 Macbook Pro.

Works as Advertised - warning if you use a MacBook cover
The workmanship is of high quality and the unit blends in nicely with the MacBook. The leather carrying case is a nice touch, but perhaps a bit unnecessary - I hope to leave this unit at the office and plug it in upon arrival (there are smaller dongles that I can travel with). I have had no issues with connecting any peripheral to this hub to-date, that includes Compact Flash, iPhone, USB stick, etc. I would be nice if it had a Thunderbolt 2.0 port on it to allow for seamlessly connecting my older Apple Monitor. I did try to connect this USB-C hub through another "dongle" hub (apple USB-C to USB-C/HDMI/USB 2.0) and that would not work, but it would be a rare event where I needed that.My only warning is that if you put a plastic clamshell protective cover on your laptop (I almost always do; the one I use is ProCase), it prevents the USB-C plugs from fully inserting into the laptop, causing this Hub to not work. I had to cut about a 1/4' of material off the right hand side of the lower clamshell and then use this Hub on the right hand side, flipping it upside down so that it extends away from the user. Not as elegant as shown in all the pictures, but it beats having to remove the lower clamshell every time I want to use the Hub.

The most frustrating device ever
This has been the most frustrating device I’ve ever dealt with. I like the idea of it being compact and cordless since generally cords cause their own set of problems but I was dead wrong thinking this way was going to be better. Any little movement, whether it was small or big, to the laptop or hub broke the connection of all devices plugged into it. Even if it was placed on a flat surface. I have to handle my damn laptop like it was a bomb that can go off at any moment if I’m not careful (laptops move, it’s unavoidable!). It is frustrating having your mouse not work, your flash drive files not showing up, and oh your laptop dying because it was never charging the whole time it was plugged in. I am so pissed I wasted this much money for it when I could of gotten a cheaper, less delicate one. I’m also pissed I didn’t return it before the deadline so i’ll take some of the blame. It’s too late for me but save yourselves from this torture. Don’t buy it. I don’t normally go on a rant but this really has been the most frustrating piece of technology I have ever dealt with and not fair for how expensive it is.

Been using for a few months. Works great with a few caveats
Does a great job:1) I primarily got this in order to plug in my older USB devices and for the SD card slot. It works great for both of those things, except with a wireless USB mouse. See "annoyances" list below.2) HDMI port works wonderfully, except I'm noticing sometimes my monitor with the HDMI goes black for a second every couple of hours. Not sure if it's this device or my computer's fault - but since my laptop only has USB-C ports, I can't test it without this hub.3) Can handle a lot of devices plugged in at once. As I type this I had an SD card plugged in, 3 USB 2.0 devices - one mouse, 2 devices charging, and a monitor plugged into the HDMI slot. Everything is working simultaneously.4) Looks great. matches the space gray laptop nearly perfectly and fits flush against the machine - almost looking like a natural extension of the laptop. Bonus: comes with a little travel case so the ports don't get dirty. The bottom has a rubber-based mount that's a really nice touch as well.Things to keep in mind:1) If you have a case on your laptop, this little device isn't going to work so well unless you make some modifications. I actually had to cut a piece of my case off on the side to plug this device in properly — you'll see in my photos that it fits flush against the laptop. With the case, it doesn't fit. It works fine after the surgery and the case stays on the laptop okay, but just keep in mind a little extra work with a hacksaw is going to be needed to use both :-P2) I have a new monitor that uses a USB-C connection, as well an another older monitor that requires an HDMI connection. This little hub works great for the HDMI monitor, but doesn't acknowledge the USB-C monitor. I have to plug that monitor directly into my USB-C port on the opposite side of my laptop.Little annoyances:1) There's sometimes lag when using a wireless USB 2.0 mouse, which can get a bit frustrating. Now I have to purchase a bluetooth mouse, which I was hoping to avoid since my little USB mouse is alive and well, still.2) Continues using power when laptop is asleep. It's not much, but I'm worried it'll wear down the life of this little device, so I disconnect it at night. (I've got my laptop rigged on a stand and plugged into multiple monitors, etc.)
