I love this! It is worth the extra minute to put it on my car windshield after work. It saves me so much time, effort, and energy in the morning when I am trying to quickly leave home for work! Granted, it does not cover the entire windshield of my Saturn Ion, but it covers enough area that after I peel the snow covered Shield off of my windshield, I do not have to do anything more. I have been just putting the sides of this cover into my car doors without using the elastic, and it still works great! I just purchased 2 more...an extra for me, and one for my boyfriend. I will use my worn one on my car to block the sun this summer. I highly recommend this simple but effective and inexpensive winter helper!

It works
I live in scenic St. Paul Minnesota where the winters really are as bad as you think. For literally years I have been parking my car on the street, and getting a vigorous upper body work-out each morning in the dark scraping and scraping and scraping, in seeming futility. An interesting note is that the colder it gets, the more difficult it is to remove frost. What is easy-peasy in October when it's ~ 20 degrees is an immobile layer of death at -20 in January. After two weeks of sub-zero nights in this particular early January 2010, repleat with especially brutal and immobile layers of frost, I thought to myself "O.K., I need to do something." But what? Build a $30,000 garage? Not feasible. Then I saw a relatively expensive magnetic device ($20+) in one of those catalogs you can thumb-through on airplanes. I came to Amazon to see if something similar was available. I am budget-minded...frugal...some might say "cheap", so the price really drew me to this item. I reasoned that the worst that could happen would be that it doesn't work. For ~ $10 it was worth the risk.I'm writing this review to share the fact that this thing works perfectly. It is better than a Thneed. And it is worth every penny. It fits like it was made for my Subaru Forester (though the image here is upside-down from the way I use it.) This seemingly flimsy little piece of shiny material looks deceptively simple. I worried that it might make the car a target for vandalism, but the corners shut inside your doors. I suppose someone could destroy it, but they won't be able to steal it easily. If you keep it nice and tight to the windshield, you will have zero scraping to do on the front of your car every morning. Being able to see is the first step to safe winter driving. I'm saving gas. I'm saving time. And I'm reducing the amount of time I spend outdoors in sub-zero windchills. My only reservation (the reason I give it 4 and not 5 stars) is that it does not seem terribly durable. Still - I've had it nearly a month, and no problems yet.Fantastic. I never want to be without one in winter again.

If you hate scrapping windows
Does a really good job keeping winter off you windshield. It is worth the price. I have had it going on my second Montana winter and looks like it will hold together for probably at least 3 maybe more. Making it around $4 a year investment. That is worth the price not having to stand in the freezing cold scraping windows. It can be a challenge to put on if the wind is blowing and if you get it upside down you have to start over, I just got a Sharpie and wrote top across it to end that problem. I will buy this again once it wears out it has done a wonderful job keeping ice and snow off windshields. The 2 minutes it take to put on is worth the time then spending time scrapping. Buy this you will not regret it.

Decent sunshade, cumbersome snow cover
Not great as a snow screen, but so far the best sunshade for my SUV I've found. For snow, on small cars it's too much hassle to put-on/take-off daily. Shutting the shade in the doors is cumbersome and time consuming both to put on and take off. On large cars it's too small to reach the doors, but quick and easy to strap it around the mirrors, but it simply doesn't hold firmly. In either case, the BOTTOM is held firm, while the top flops around, which seems backwards. It's only a so-so sunshade. Most are only 26" tall, while this one is bigger and covers more of my SUV windshield. The reflective foil face actual does a very good job rejecting sunlight and keeping things cooler, while anything non-reflective gets hot and makes your car hot. Additionally, it's not rigid, so you can fold it and stick it under the driver's seat... a big plus. HOWEVER, being on the flimsy side, it can be hard to make it stand-up in your window. And while I like being able to fold it small, after a few months of daily use, the edges are starting to crack from the repeated folding/unfolding, so I'm here, digging through hundreds of listings for junk sunshade that don't work, trying to find something just slightly better. Not a very good sunshade, honestly, but it manages to put most others to shame as the complete trash they are, so that's worth the price of admission!

Fell apart with first use.
I attempted to use this windshield cover one time before it completely fell apart. I put the cover on my windshield in the evening as directed, and when I went to leave for work the next morning, one of the straps had completely unraveled and unattached itself from the seam. Because the strap had broken off, the cover blew away leaving the windshield completely exposed to the icy weather. The straps are required to hold the cover to windshield, so unfortunately, I will never get an opportunity to use it.

Great product! Best money I ever spent!
This is the best money I ever spent! I don't care if it is cheap, it works! My son has been spending 5 minutes scraping ice off the windshield on winter mornings, while we have the car running to warm it up. This morning, we had the windshield screen on the window, no scraping and we were able to drive away right away. As we were driving down the road, it dawned on me that we will be saving way more than the initial cost of this beauty, what with not having the motor running while the windshield is being scraped. At the current cost of gas, how cool is that?

Really does work. Only improved I would suggest is two ties (one at top and one at the bottom) to keep it firmer when really windy.

Junk
Junk, one of the ties was broken when I received. Tried it once, didn't come close to keeping the ice off of my Subaru Forester windshield.
