What can I say...
I've never been a massive Peter Kay fan and didn't even watch the first series of Car Share but when the second series came out, it had me totally hooked. Driving around Manchester (I think) in the rush hour, old-skool tunes on the radio, the sun blazing... what more can you want. Those two with their mad banter - just like real people who work together and get on really well - secretly fancying each other but never taking it any further until... one day, it all comes out and Kayleigh is left heartbroken when John appears not to reciprocate her love.Basically, for those of you who don't know what this is about, it's about John Redmond (Peter Kay) giving a lift to work his co-worker, Kayleigh (Sian Gibson). The start of each scene sees him picking her up from home, they drive to work - scene blacks out - they get in the car for the return journey - it's so simple. Simple, yes... but hilariously funny. We see them trying to avoid giving 'Stink-Ray' (the store fishmonger) a lift until he forces himself on them at the traffic lights - Kayleigh removing the car air freshener from the rear-view mirror and putting it around her neck to alleviate the smell - John hiding under a box in a trolley, pretending to be a large package that will entirely fill the back seat to avoid giving Ray a lift back home! In series two, John has to visit the Wigan store and Kayleigh phones in sick in front of him, planning to go with him, deftly changing into her best clothes in the garage toilets - she had it sorted all along - right down to the picnic! They go to a Safari Park in the afternoon and inadvertently pick up a monkey, which hitches a ride on the roof! They don't notice it's there until they see a stream of wee run down the windscreen! The state of them both after they've returned the monkey to the park is laugh-out-loud funny! Another time the lift involves going to the works Christmas Party - John as Harry Potter - Kayleigh as Hagrid. They get there fine, expect for Kayleigh moaning about the beard itching but, on the way back they give a lift to Elsie - on her third written warning - and no wonder! She's dressed as a Smurf - clearly very drunk and in fine voice. Totally failing to notice that John has driven miles past her house, they eventually arrive, well past 2am - Elsie moaning ungratefully that she could have walked faster! Check out the scene where Kayleigh mislays her door-key and is locked in the house when John arrives to pick her up. He forks out £140 for a locksmith when Kayleigh, anxious to leave the new key where her sister (whom she lives with) can find it, discovers the spare key under a planter beside the door. All this is after John has tried to haul her unsuccessfully through a small window, getting covered in mud as he falls from the dustbin and nearly breaking his back. I could go on for ever trying to describe how funny it is but I'll fail miserably because no-one can deliver dead-pan, every-day banter and make it funny like Peter Kay can. Sian Gibson is the perfect foil for him with her scatty lack of knowledge of everyday things - she thinks dogging is taking her dog for a walk and tells John she regularly goes 'dogging' with her elderly neighbour! Dinosaurs didn't exist but superstition is high on Kayleigh's list of priorities, second only to gossiping - mainly about work. The very last one of Series Two left people up in arms as Kayleigh declared her love for John, and John being John, appeared not to be listening to her or taking her seriously. He was, in reality, phoning the local radio station to ask them to dedicate a song to her so that she'd know how he felt about her. She never heard it - by the time it came on, she was running for a taxi, in floods of tears. We saw John stuck in traffic, fantasising about stepping from car roof to car roof to rescue her, but it wasn't to be - the scene dissolved and John drove home - alone. It was then that the vox populi won out! How could you do it, we cried - shame on you Peter Kay! He gave in and did a new ending and although John lost his car door, a little hedgehog was saved from being squashed and Kayleigh got her man, and showed him how to get on a bus for the first time in his life! The dream-scene where John takes the place of Garry Barlow in a Take That video is an all time classic as he dances and sings a song he wrote especially for Kayleigh - delivering the tape to her home at 5.30 in the morning. Steve, her perpetually-bike-mending brother-in-law (Guy Garvey) is in the garden mending his bike. When Kayleigh later receives it and opens it on the bus, it's covered in his black, oily fingerprints!I know Peter Kay fans who didn't actually like this as it's a bit different to his usual stuff so, if you aren't very keen on him, give it a go and you might find it's just up your street - so to speak!PS: For anyone who's confused about the running order of Series Two. Peter Kay caved in to public demand to make a more fitting conclusion to John & Kayleigh's relationship and made a new 'finale' which eventually became episode six. He also did an unscripted episode where he and Sian Gibson just made it up as they went along. Because this improvised one didn't refer to their breakup, it was slotted in as the second programme in the series - the second series only originally having four episodes - and the new 'feelgood' finale then completed the set of six episodes. People who bought the first and second series separately as soon as they came out will have missed out on these new additions and will have to purchase this complete set in order to see them - that's why I waited until the whole lot was over before purchasing this 'complete' set!

A nice piece of soothing entertainment
Peter Kay (John) is the icing on the cake for this show. He really is. I've never seen any of his work before. Kept hearing about him throughout the years though. He is the one that holds this show together. He's not ditsy, he's daft, but not ditsy. Kayleigh can be a little too dumb sometimes. But overall she's likeable. Sian Gibson is a lovely lady. This is also the first of her work I am looking at. Reece Shearsmith was funny in his appearance in S1E3. Loved how he tried running to keep up with John's car while giving John the V sign haha If it was me driving Kayleigh would be subjected to songs like:Crematory - Fly.Skid Row - Slave To The Grind.Vince Neil - Can't Have Your Cake.GjeldRune - KillDozer.Aerodyne - Kick It Down.Night Demon - Night Demon.Samael - Telepath. There would be a permanent ban on Kayleigh's music if I was John. NOW Christmas compilations etc. Play that guff and there's plenty of space in the boot for future journeys. I have to say (joking aside) that the one thing I can't stand. That I fast forward every time one kicks in. The fantasy dream-like segments. Thankfully they don't last too long in episodes. Shows like this are needed these days. The escapism is welcome. Too much negativity out there.

I laughed till I cried.
Peter is back on top from yet again. Watching this show I can forgive Peter for the cancellation of his live tour. This little slice of a day in the life of 2 people who come together for the good of the staff of the supermarket that they work for so that they can do there bit for the environment by introducing a car share buddy scheme. This is where our story starts and the beauty of the show is that the comedy comes from the everyday mundane things that happen at work and then the viewer gets to fill in the gaps and use there imagination to think about the staff we never see and the stories that are told to us the viewer through the eyes of John and Kayleigh. From the 1st episode until the last one we are taken on a journey of every emotion. One moment your laughing and next your crying but if this show doesn't put a smile on your face then I'm a monkeys uncle and talking of monkeys well let's just say I was very close to having a bladder accident because I laughed so much. If you are reading this review thinking about weather or not to purchase this or not then don't even think twice. I only had one little niggle with the boxset and yea I know it's a small niggle but it just adds the icing on the cake and that is a commentary on any of the episodes of which their were none. Would of been great to have a commentary for maybe the 1st and final episode but alas we have to make do without. Now Peter just a small ask but can we please please have a new series of cradle to the grave and then I will be happy.

This is a phenemonal, warm comedy
I like Car Share so much I bought a multi-region DVD player just to be able to watch it here in the USA outside my small PC screen. Peter and Sian have created a tender and funny couple on par with Lucy and Ricky, Ralph and Alice, Rob and Laura and other classic comic pairs. Peter is a true comic genius and Sian is funny, witty, bold and impossible not to love.

Peter Kay at his funniest
I never saw this on TV only saw a couple of trailers on YT. Bought and binge watched over a week or so. Some of the funniest things are in the background, signs and adverts on buses, and the radio that they have on in the car. Seriously side splitting.

Great communication with seller.
The item took a long time to arrive which was not the sellers fault. Unfortunately, it doesnt work on our dvd player. I ordered region 2 as they have worked in the past so my fault.
