Some of the stuff I like about the X4 over the X3: - Image quality is crisp and cleaner — especially, when zooming in from the recorded file (NOTE: See Video: The video clip is zoomed in from the X4’s recorded file — the image quality is so much better than the X3 when under this circumstance); - Battery life is better — although, I purchased an extra battery, I have yet to use it in the same day — the X4’s battery has more than enough power for me in a day; - The screw-in lenses are a good solution to protecting the camera lenses; and, surprisingly, they don’t create much distortion from most angles; and, - The X4 does a better job than the X3 of not showing stitching, warping, or image distortion when the X4 is positioned parallel to the ground and sky — especially, near, or at, the circumference edges of the camera lenses with the protective lens covers off. (NOTE: See my pic riding my electric bicycle: the image does not show any stitching nor warping when I place the X4 parallel to the ground; hence, it’s difficult for the viewer to know the location of the X4.) The stuff I don’t like about the x4: - No Remote connection from the Apple Watch (Ultra) — I contacted Insta360 support; and, they told me they don’t have any plans, at this time, to update the firmware to connect to the Apple Watches; - No GPS DIRECTION data in the Insta360 OS Application; BUT, GPS DIRECTION shows up as an option in the STATS’s menu when using the Insta360’s DESKTOP’s software. Insta360’s technical support is looking into this situation, as of 7-May-2024. - As of 1-May-2024, the GPS Remote, the model without preview, doesn’t connect to my X4; I tried the firmware upgrade, and the GPS remote will not connect to my X4. I returned this remote. - As of 1-May-2024, the GPS Preview Remote works with the X4 after the GPS Preview Remote’s Firmware Update, via the Insta360’s Application, under the System Settings. (Even when using the GPS Preview Remote, No DIRECTION option shows up in the STATS’s menu option of the Insta360 OS Apple iPhone Application; BUT, DIRECTION shows up as an option in the STATS’s menu option in the Insta360’s DESKTOP software when using the GPS Preview Remote; I contacted Insta360’s customer support; and, they are working on the Insta360 OS app for the iPhone to address the DIRECTION option.) - The X3 Battery does not work with the X4 — the X4 battery is bigger in size. - Bluetooth Wake-up doesn’t always work with the GPS Preview Remote — I don’t know if the problem is the X4 or the GPS Preview Remote. Notwithstanding the things I don’t like about the X4, aforementioned supra, they do not outweigh the features and benefits of the X4 — it’s a wonderful camera for my specific uses: flying, SCUBA, tennis, hiking, equestrian activities, and biking, and it is significantly a better camera than the X3, by way of recording motions and stills. I returned my X3 — it was still in the Amazon return period; hence, I only use the X4 at this time. I’m very happy with my X4. /s/ Alfonso Faustino

This camera amazes me on a daily basis, no joke. I wanted a 360 camera for years but couldn't justify the price for the offerings at the time. A friend of mine has the X3 and his footage was amazing. When I compared the two, I just knew the X4 was the perfect fit for me. I bought this primarily for travel videos (making things a little more creative). But I also plan to put it on my mountain bike. I already had it on a selfie stick and had it positioned out my driver's side window (not too far, just above my mirror) and the footage was clear as can be and very smooth. I bought a neck mount to test how walking around with the camera would be. Neck mount was great, and the footage was unbelievably smooth considering I was walking on a hilly/bumpy lawn. It didn't have that up and down motion you see with other cameras while walking. The stabilization blew me away. I have also used it for driving by placing it on different mounts in my front windshield. That has also been pretty great. My only issue with the camera, and I think this is something I just personally need to revisit is the exposure in the sky while driving has been overexposed in the daylight every single time. The whole sky is blown out. I am using the premium lens guards, but I was hoping the auto exposure would handle this better. Like I said, that might just be a setting I need to understand better. Battery life has also been pretty great. I do plan on buying numerous batteries due to traveling and not having access to charge up as often as I would hope. It also does have a voice recognition thing which I have used numerous times. That way I don't have to push the record button. I like that feature a lot. I have been pretty impressed with not just the camera but the accessories I have bought have all been incredibly sturdy and well constructed. I will say that the included case does not fit ALL selfie sticks, only the smallest one I believe fit the carrying case. It also wouldn't fit the camera if you have the quick release mount on it. I wish there was a little more leeway with space. I probably will just order an off market case/bag for it. Not sure what that is actually called, but the gray case thing. The app for 360 is pretty great too.... but it does not offer all the same features that the desktop application does. I could not find direction lock in the app, but it is on the desktop one. Anyways, this camera is truly a game changer and has millions of possibilities for editing/creating.

The Insta360 X4‑8K has been one of the best camera purchases I’ve made. I bought it last year for a family vacation and waited to really put it through its paces before reviewing it. After using it on that trip and then taking it along on multiple motorcycle rides, I can say it’s been consistently impressive. - Image quality is excellent, especially in 360 mode where the 8K resolution really shows. - Durability has been solid—it’s handled travel, weather, and vibration from the bike without any issues. - Ease of use is a big win. The menus, shooting modes, and app integration make it simple to capture and edit footage. - Versatility is where it shines: family trips, outdoor adventures, motorcycle rides—it’s handled all of it. I highly recommend this camera to anyone looking for a reliable, high‑quality 360 action cam that can keep up with real‑world use.

I have owned every Insta360 360 camera so far (with the exception of the Titan). This is the best one yet, as it should be. But it is a product that shows that Insta360 listens to their customers. 8K is the big headline item and it gives you the highest resolution yet in a consumer 360 camera. When you reframe (which is changing the view after recording - all in the amazing Insta360 mobile app or the Studio app for computers), you get 2.7k video. This is perfect for how most of this kind of footage is consumed - online and in social media. The battery life is much better than before. It comes with lens guards to make sure you don’t damage the actual lens - and the footage still looks great. The overall photo and video quality is really really great! Please note that it does not come with a selfie stick but is compatible with them to give you that awesome angle of the stick eliminated from the video. This makes it look like you have a personal cameraman or a drone with you wherever you go - but you actually have all you need in a pocket! It is more rugged than the X3 and feels much better in the hand. The display is a bit larger than before and has gorilla glass to keep it in better shape for longer. All in all, this is an incredible camera that I don’t like to reduce to just being an action camera - it is more like the perfect lifestyle camera because it’s ready and tough enough to shoot your life wherever you are.

I am enjoying just about every video I make with it. I would say that software is not that easy to follow or at least I am getting used to it. Also, you do not find same features on desktop vs mobile versions. Finally made some videos that did not came out unfortunately I was already gone from that place. Tool to fix issues with videos did not do anything. Otherwise, I really like the Insta360 camera.

Everything has been working very well so far. About 2 weeks of taking random footage walking, cycling, and some tripod timelapse footage. You need a powerful computer to edit videos. Recommended RAM is 32GB. Sometimes video projects won't finalize properly, or at all. Transitions and edit can go missing or get messed up, and a few times the final video was cut short. None of this is the fault of the camera itself, though I'm sure the insta360 Studio software could use optimization, and it should have ALL the same features as the phone app! My phone won't even attempt to edit videos with the insta360 app. It tells me straight up it doesn't have the performance and won't even make an attempt to edit. This may have focused on more negatives than positives, but I stand by the 5 star rating. Everything works perfectly and as expected, there are a ton of features and the images are all high-quality. They perfected the X series cameras with this. Longer battery life and built-in/removable/replaceable lens protectors are great. I've never had overheating issues yet, filming mostly on a bike going 10-16mph (16kph-25.75kph) in sunny, 74F (23.33C) weather.

purtroppo dopo circa 3 mesi la camera in fase di riproduzione veloce presenta problemi di visualizzazione e blocco con bande colorate varie e blocco delle funzioni ..... dopo varie istruzioni dalla assistenza , il problema rimane .... sono in attesa di ulteriori interventi da parte della assistenza per risolvere definitivamente ....

La possibilità di riprendere senza doversi preoccupare dell'inquadratura è il primo motivo per scegliere una cam 360, la solidità e le funzioni sono ciò che la fa preferire

On en fait tout un bruit sur cette caméra, mais, la qualité d'image est vraiment dégueu pour ma part. D'après ce que j'ai pu voir l'image est surtout stabilisé par le logiciel, la caméra en elle même ne stabilisé rien. Quand on cours on voit le décors de déformer même si on bouge le moins possible le bras. Avec la Perche ou le manche télescopique et bien on voit un gros défaut et de temps en temps on voit même le manche. Faut enlever les protections d'objectifs pour régler un peu le problème. En tout cas moi je la retourne. Ce n'est pas du tout ce qui était dit sur les vidéos youtube etc... Là tout semble magique. La réalité l'est moins.
