A very spooky story!
This novel was amazing! I was literally on the edge of my seat while reading some of it, breathing quickly as the terrifying scenes of ghosts and paranormal activity unfolded. A great haunted house story! It really shows how a haunted house can influence people, especially people with darkness in them. I loved reading this book and I absolutely recommend it!

Dark and brooding with the proper amount of trauma and heart
“Don’t make me come collect you…Laurel Hightower is good and Day of the Door is a perfect story to showcase her talent. It's dark and brooding with the proper amount of trauma and heart. Well done....it’ll be worse if you do.”

Great
The book arrived in perfect condition and was shipped with great care. Although I haven't read it yet, I believe the shipping method deserves a review here. I will share my thoughts on the book itself after I have read it.

Day of the Door
Maybe because of my current life situations going on but this book took forever for me to finally finish. Feels like I'd read a chapter a night and fall asleep. The beginning is extremely slow but also thrusts you into the storyline. It takes time to get familiar with the characters and what happened at the beginning. It wasn't a terrible book, but I wouldn't say it really scared me at all. I liked visuals it gave when describing gruesome things. I might be considered a prude here, but I believe maybe a bit less of the F word could've been used. I get that there is a lot of anger in the context, but at some points, it was almost every other sentence. Other than that, I loved the detail and the story. I loved how the ending had a sort of explanation, which is fantastic and done in such a smart way. I liked how it ended and the build-up to it. Overall, it's not a bad book, but I just wish I had been more into it while reading.

very therapeutic!
As a victim of narcissists, I know this book nailed it. Plus it gave much needed catharsis. For that, it gets my vote.OTOH, if you want a serious mind bender novel about families and possession and ghost hunting shows, you should check out Head Full Pf Ghosts by Paul Tremblay. Similar material, handled in a much subtler way.

Engaging, psychological horror
Great family horror drama, somewhat akin to The Haunting of Hill House, but still unique and definitely a page turner.

Monster of a mom & a haunted house - I’m in!!
Excellent writing, excellent characters & and really creepy setup. I felt it unraveled a bit in the last third and didn’t quite stick the landing. Redeeming note - the book is self aware and jokes about the reveal. Loved it. Solid 4⭐️

Hmmmm
It's a quick read, not bad. It leaves you thinking about how you never know what's really happening behind the scenes of normal ( ") family lives?
