Loving this advent-calendar jigsaw!
I just love the idea of these, and have already bought one for myself this Christmas. I have a friend who loves her jigsaws more than I do though, and I just know she’ll adore the idea of this. You get a standard jigsaw box, but neatly set up inside are 24 smaller boxes, each containing a small jigsaw to complete daily. They all combine together, to make a Christmas Advent scene. How fab is that?!This one is all cute dogs and kittens, which I know my friend will love in an over-sweet and irreverent manner, so it will be received with a laugh. Usefully, you get a good-sized sheet with the complete jigsaw image on it, for reference, so she can brace herself for what’s coming. Each section also has a number-reference printed on the back, which is very handy for when you break it all back down, to make sure that you get the right pieces into the right box. This way, when you’ve packed it up and are somehow left with one single piece not yet packed, you know where to put it – Perfect!I did cheat a little with my own by the same company, and opened box no.1 to try it out, and the individual pieces are a good thickness with nice clean cuts, which hold well when linked together. There’s not too much duplication of shape, either. Since they may well come out year after year like a Christmas tradition, you really do need something of good quality for a set like this. You need to know that the top layer won’t separate from the card underneath, in use. These seem well made with compacted, stable edges and a nice clear, clean print.I love the whole idea of having all the boxes sat neatly within that main box, ready to be lifted out daily, and am planning to buy a box of Cadbury’s miniatures so that I can drop a couple of wrapped chocolates in each box as well, before I hand it over, as a treat to eat whilst doing the jigsaw. In all I’m loving this idea, and the execution seems pretty sound. I noticed that the shop do several different designs, so you’ll likely find something to your liking, if you prefer a different design. I think I’ll probably buy at least one more to hand out this Christmas. Definitely recommended!

A family activity for Christmas
I love this advent calendar. it consists of 24 little boxes, each of which contains 42 pieces of jigsaw (all of the pieces come from the same puzzle 'area'. So you do one patch a day. I confess I haven't done the whole puzzle since its only September however I have put the first two boxes together to try out ahead of the run up to Christmas. I've found the pieces to be fairly substantial, thick enough, and easy to fit together. There's a number on the back of each so you know which box it's come out of. This is so great so that it can be repacked and used again at a later date.Take care opening the boxes, they're a little tricky to open without ripping, you might find it helpful to use a paper knife.. or just take your time!I confess the picture isn't my own favourite around a Christmassy theme - I'd probably give the image an 8/10 for my tastes - but I know they young's in the house will love the good ol' boys in the picture, so that's what swung it for me.I thinks in general the theme would be classed as 50s Americana, due to the style of the truck etc; if that truck radio was on it would be playing a country Christmas song :-DI think the presentation of the calendar as a whole is excellent. The box as a whole looks inviting and special and would be fab as a gift (or to gift to yourself)! If this goes down well I would be happy to make the advent jigsaw a family tradition; this is a super one in the run up to Christmas; if we catch the bug I think it would be fab to do a puzzle together in those down days between Christmas and New Year.Five stars.

Great idea
This is a fabulous idea and a great alternative to a chocolate advent calendar. You get 24 boxes with 42 jigsaw pieces so you make 24 sections which join together to make one big puzzle image. The puzzle pieces are numbered on the back so you can easily sort them back into their boxes and reuse them each year or pass on, so it’s a much more sustainable advent calendar.I think the picture is a little odd and could be improved, some of the dogs and cats look a little freaked out and have their heads at an odd angle. However, I would still recommend this advent calendar as I still think it’s a fun idea. The jigsaw pieces feel good quality, a decent thickness and fit into each other well.

....
Such a great idea for an advent calendar that has contents that last for years, rather than chocolate or sweets. I've never seen a jigsaw one anywhere else before ‐ very unique concept to me and the kids. Jigsaws are one of the few activities where the kids will all enjoy sitting and working together for a few hours - wholesome family time. The jigsaw wasn't missing any pieces, and there were no misshapen parts. The actual calendar was very decent for the price; it wasn't bashed and the boxes for the days weren't mislabelled.

Great way to countdown to Christmas
This jigsaw advent arrived in a cellophane wrapped box, which featured a colourful picture of the puzzle inside.Representing a great way of enabling younger puzzlers to complete a 1,000 piece puzzle (1,008 to be precise) the box contains 24 individual numbered boxes.Inside each are, loosely, packed 42 pieces. Day one creates the top left corner of the jigsaw and day 2 continues with the block below. The reverse of the pieces is marked with the day too, to prevent any mix ups.The quality of the pieces is good, they're nice and thick and well cut.It took me about 10 minutes to put one section together, so it's not a massive daily commitment but will create a huge sense of satisfaction on Christmas Eve when you have a completed festive jigsaw. There's no reason why you couldn't repack this into the separate sections but it would also work as a "standard" jigsaw - though the numbers on the back would make it far easier to complete from scratch. The image is fun, festive and bound to appeal to puzzlers both young and old.At £19.99, at time of review, I think it's good value and a charming way to pass the 24 days of advent.
