Great Camera
Had this camera for sometime now. My second Fuji camera. I struggled with the differences at first between the old one and the newer version. However, after some time I am coming to understand how it works and how to get the best from it. These cameras are the in between a good focus and the need for a heavy and large zoom lens to attach to a bridge camera. Personally, I prefer the good zoom of this camera. You get used to the weight quite quickly which is heavy to hold up and keep still at first. Always useful to find a good post or wall for those really good shots. I think we are now friends.

Great camera!
The zoom is incredible. Great feature and is really useful. I find the picture quality is really good, although its the first proper camera I have ever had. The auto focus is a bit finicky but does what is needed. The manual focus doesn't seem very good but I can cope without it. The vast quantity of settings make this a great camera. My cousin has a Canon 100D and even he is impressed with how good this camera is.It has been to the beach 3 times and even been used in the rain without any issues. The rubberised feel seems to be fantastic and makes it quite nice to hold.

A lot to learn and get used to
Bought this camera about a month ago to replace a DSLR which was coming to the end of its life. I am still in the process of getting used to it. I have taken some good pictures - and missed a few good ones as well as I get used to the Electronic View Finder. I find the screen not very useful in anything like bright lighting conditions. I'm sure after a bit more practice it will be fine. So far I have not tried any of the advanced features- doing so will take time as the handbook is poor, not just the little one in the box but also the downloadable 152 page version. The 50 times zoom is brilliant. Provided the subject is not fast moving I have not had any problem with image sharpness - got some good close-ups of wildlife. Very pleased not to have to carry a big zoom lens around with me.So generally, early days but optimistic that this will prove to be a very useful camera.

what a great camera
after 2 years owning this camera I cannot find nothing I do not like about the S1 , great picture quality for a bridge camera when using as a point & shoot on auto or using manual & shutter the F stop goes as low as 2.8 for a variety of shots , it has lots of options & modes ( the sunset on the harbour was on advanced mode & dynamic setting & is straight off the camera ) its just a shame that Fuji no longer make this model , I have owned 3 different makes of bridge camera & this is by far the best all shots I have uploaded are JPEG , in a nutshell a great camera worth every penny

Great camera for the price
This was bought as a Christmas present and when I opened it, it had a european power lead and a French manual! However an English manual was soon downloaded and I had a spare power lead. Neither were needed as the camera is very simple to operate and it can be charged via a USB cable directly into my computer. The camera itself is excellent, fantastic zoom and great onboard effects. I have just claimed a £50 cashback offer from Fuji which has brought the total cost down to £179. So this camera is fantastic value.

Nice Camera but noisy zoom and pictures not brilliant
A nice camera which feels great in the hand. Zoom is amazing and you get great pictures on a sunny day. Indoor shots often look better on my iPhone and for that reason I am returning this.

Double Disappointment!!
I bought this camera on the high recommendation of a friend. After using it for the first time, I was viewing the photo's in playback mode and the screen froze. I could not scroll through, zoom in, delete or switch off the camera, eventually I had to remove the battery. I returned it and, as I liked everything else about it, requested a replacement that arrived very promptly within 2 days. After using the 2nd camera for the first time on a trip to the Lake District, exactly the same thing happened again. Subsequently, it has been returned for a full refund.

Not weatherproof and DOES NOT have a waterproof body.
This was a great camera, I say was as after two years use the LCD screen failed and Fuji said it could not be repaired due to corrosion. While the blurb states it is weatherproof and has a water resistant body, this is clearly NOT the case. I did mention this to Fuji customer service and asked that the do not mis-represent this camera as stated above. Nice camera but rusts!
