This pack of two black whistles does the job well. My teenager is a referee, and these work well for him. They appear to be made of a strong plastic, so I expect they'll stand up well in his backpack. These are pea-based whistles, so they have a little ball inside of them. Pealess designs are becoming more popular, but this is a good value for a two-pack of standard whistles.

CONS: None.PROS: Loud!Additional Thoughts: My emergency whistle on my boat has become very hard to make it work and it isn't loud. That made it an ineffective emergency item! So I got these to try them out and wow, they take very little effort to get a very loud sound from them. These whistles are loud---just the way you want them. The plastic is thick, and they appear to be sturdy and should last a long time.The lanyards are a little short for my 6' 0" body. This is the only reason I didn't give them a 5-star rating. Otherwise, these are GREAT whistles!!

Needed an emergency whistle for a paddle board. This one should do the trick. It is SUPER loud. Giving it 4 stars because it feels pretty cheap. But if you're not using it regularly, it should do just fine.
