Love this movie such a hidden gem

Great film

What does one say about a movie that has Anthony Hopkins, Cuba Gooding Jnr, Donald Sutherland and Maura Tierney as the cast. One word "Excellent".It often amazes me that movies like this are overlooked for the Oscars. However back to the movie.This movie has something for almost everyone. If you enjoy stories of Africa and the incredible Gorilla - it is there. If you enjoy stories of murder, greed and mans inhumannity to man. It is there. If you enjoy a pshchological thriller it is there. If you enjoy heart renching experience guess what it is also there. The love of a father for his family, the love of a man for his fellow human being, the love of a man for a woman. This magnificent movie includes almost all of the human emotions good and bad. Each part is played to perfection by this well put together cast. There is never a dull moment so the nearly 2 hour movie speeds by. The direction is excellent as is the filming.For me this movie ranks amongst my most favoured movies. So if anyone of the above comments appeals to you this is a must in your collection. The quality of the DVD is excellent. If there is a need to critise it is a pity that there are no special features. It would be nice to hear what the cast and director say about this production. I had known this film for many years when I bought it, so knew what I was getting. Anthony Hopkins marvellous as a sort of male Dian Fossey in the Virunga mountains, who however gets captured and jailed after killing several wildlife rangers turned poachers in defense of his group of Mountain Gorillas. He goes berserk and shuts down communication with everyone. Cuba Gooding Jr. is great as his defense lawyer in the US who does his best to get through to him and get him to communicate with him! We all know Cuba as a bit of a clown, but here there is just a whiff of that. Excellent! Everyone who admires Anthony Hopkins particularly should watch this film too!

Anthony Hopkins is amazing in his delivery of the role as a psychic, his brilliant acting ability shines through.The rest of the cast were excellent also and overall it delivers a great film to see

I bought this film following reviews on here having not seen it before. I enjoyed watching most of it, it was a little slow in places but the story was fairly good. I found the psychiatrist slightly shallow as a character which spoilt my enjoyment a bit. I imagine the story would work better as a book (it may well be one I don't know)it just felt slightly rushed in film form, I felt more depth needed to be used on some aspects but couldn't be due to having to fit it into a set length of film. Overall an interesting enough concept just could be slightly better done.

Great film. Bought to keep as I know I will watch it again. Anthony Hopkins is great as always.

This film was recommended to me, by some friends. Stars Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Gooding Jnr. Its a film that makes you see how humans treat one another and also animals. Sadly nothing has changed in the 21st Century. I enjoyed it, will be watching it again....
