A CAUTIONARY TALE!
I had never had drain flies in 45 years in any house I lived in. We currently live in a old house with cast iron pipes that do get clogged regularly, and I understand that’s how they originate. This product does work but you need to be diligent and use it a few nights in a row but then it will sometimes cause them to come out of a different drain somewhere else in the house. So obviously you have to use it on each. My cautionary tale is this - do not just let this go untreated and think it’s not a big deal. We just had a few flies, not swarms, and not being familiar with what they can cause, I just let it go for a few weeks & said I’d take care of it at some point. Well then they lay eggs in your grout and you get an infestation! Google ‘grout worms’ if you haven’t heard of it. It’s disgusting. We had just some hairline cracks in our grout and that is all they need. As soon as I saw a couple near the grout line, I immediately sprayed Tilex with bleach and about 15 more came squirming out of the wall. I kept spraying them and killing them thinking that would eventually eradicate them, b/c it was bleach! Nope. It makes them squirm out but doesn’t actually kill them. Finally I sprayed some Raid and that actually killed them. And I didn’t even have any flies at this point hardly, just the worms! Then they will lay eggs in different corners of the shower, even just where the metal from the enclosure meets the tile. It is crazy. They will get in just the tiniest spot of mildew there. I ended up getting the grout replaced anyway b/c the tile installers did a bad job, and it is now sealed. The flies have only come back once since I had this done - probably b/c of a hair clog that happened at the same time- and I immediately ordered another bottle of this and did not waste any time. Keep your pipes clean, people! Also this doesn’t seem to have any odor but do not breathe it in, it will definitely irritate your throat.

Anything's better than those dang flies
Does what it's supposed to it kills those dank lies but you need a lot cuz you got to go through your whole house and you got to do it at least three times

Use this along with other products
No matter the product consistency is key to getting rid of drain flies. Do it daily until they are gone. I found using this along with the liquid traps worked the best

It worked!
It worked! Took several applications. After the first application, fruit flies were reduced dramatically. Within 5-6 days they seem to be gone.

Beware
Normally, I love this brand but I'm really upset about this product that's supposed to take care of fruit flies and sewer flies. Instructions state that leaving it in the drain overnight is ideal so that's what I did. They also say that for best results, use it several times so I repeated the process the next night. Both times, I wiped away the excess with paper towel since rinsing them wasn't an option. So, not only has it eaten the finish off of my drain (or whatever the correct term is), this morning there were several sewer flies. I am not a happy girl. So, this is an update. I contacted the Green Gobbler customer service folks copying the review above and since they had no way for me to attach the pictures below, I described what had happened. I received back a boilerplate email describing that some drains are tougher to unclog than others. Really? I write about a product designed to rid your drains of fruit and sewer flies and they respond with info about unclogging my drains? I responded telling them that I was disappointed that they hadn't even taken the time to read my comment. Pretty poor and what's worse is that they did not respond to then at all to me. I'm just disgusted as I have used their drain cleaner several times and it's done a great job but this has soured me on the company.

Gets the job done
I recently tried the Fruit Fly Gel Drain Treatment to deal with an annoying fruit fly problem, and here’s my take: Pros: 1. Effective Solution: This gel works wonders on fruit flies and drain flies. It clings to the pipes and eliminates the flies by targeting their breeding ground. Within a few days, I noticed a significant reduction in the number of flies. 2. Easy to Use: The application is straightforward. You just pour the gel into the drain, and it does the rest. It's hassle-free and doesn’t require any additional tools. 3. Safe Formula: Made with citronella oil, it’s non-toxic and safe to use around the house, which is a big plus for homes with kids and pets. 4. Pleasant Scent: Unlike other chemical treatments, this gel has a refreshing citrus scent, which helps keep the drains smelling fresh while it works. Cons: 1. Needs Regular Application: For best results, you need to apply it regularly, especially if the infestation is severe. This means it’s not a one-time fix. 2. Price: While effective, it’s a bit on the pricier side compared to some DIY solutions. However, the effectiveness justifies the cost in my opinion. 3. Sticky Residue: If not handled carefully, the gel can leave a sticky residue around the drain area. It’s essential to pour it directly into the drain to avoid this. Overall Experience: The treatment has been a reliable solution for my fruit fly problem. It’s easy to use and effective, with the added benefit of a pleasant scent. While it requires regular application and careful handling to avoid residue, the results are worth it.

It works!
Living in an apartment gnats come through the drain. This product eliminates that! Large bottle will last a long time l. The product is thick enough to stick to the pipes when poured in the drain. It has a scent but I can’t describe it.
