Defo worth the watch. Brilliant film.

Great movie, great cast, watched it once, and will no doubt watch again as I thoroughly enjoyed it the first time around.

Really enjoyed this film . I wont put any spoilers here. But for me its one of those films I go back and watch from time to time. Excellent cast . Not one to watch with small children around and its no chick flick. Definitely one to settle onto the sofa with all your snacks and watch undisturbed from start to finish.

7/10 time filler not trash half decent

The film is gripping throughout with an incredible story and brilliant actors. In particular, the lead actor, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, does an excellent job at portraying a man at different stages of his life as he transforms into a new man and new way of life. The character (Jacob Harlan, or 'Money') is sympathetic and fascinating, and the world he's thrust into is fascinating too. For the most part, Harlan keeps his thoughts to himself so you're not sure exactly how he's feeling or what his motives are until the end, when everything becomes clear. The film is structured such that it shows the present day, while at the same time entwined with this we see flashbacks of the last ten years of Harlan's life i.e. which lead up to the present day. The film handles this juxtaposition in a very accomplished manner. The flashbacks are critical to showing Harlan's journey, revealing information always at the right time and in a fascinating way, and is never confusing. It's a truly great film and I have watched it multiple times, which is unusual for me.

Gerade eben habe ich "Shot Caller" mit Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lennister) gesehen und muss sagen, der war mal wieder sein Geld wert.Die Kurzfassung von "Shot Caller":"Jacob Harlon (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), der zuvor ein ganz normales Leben als südkalifornischer Durchschnittsbürger mit seiner Frau (Lake Bell) geführt hat, baut einen Unfall und muss daraufhin ins Gefängnis. Das Leben hinter Gittern macht es ihm jedoch nicht leicht, an der eigenen Integrität und Moral festzuhalten, und vor die Entscheidung gestellt, ein Opfer zu sein oder ein Krieger zu werden, stellt sich der Inhaftierte unter den Schutz eines mächtigeren Mannes. Doch für die Aufnahme in die Kreise seiner neuen "Freunde" muss er einen hohen Preis zahlen.Jacob wird zu einer härteren Version seiner selbst, doch auch nach dem Verbüßen seiner Strafe und der anschließenden Entlassung fordert die Gang, der er im Gefängnis beigetreten ist, noch verschiedene Gefallen von ihm ein. Zugleich wird es für Jacob aber auch ein Kampf darum, wer hier wirklich bestimmt, wo es langgeht."Für Regisseur und Stuntman Ric Roman Waugh war der Kriminalthriller Shot Caller nach seinen Werken Shadows of Death - Im Fadenkreuz der Mafia (2001), Felon (2008) und Snitch - Ein riskanter Deal (2013), die alle ähnlich gelagerte Gang- bzw. Gefängnis-Thematiken hatten, der dritte Spielfilm, den er für das Kino inszenierte.Ja, das war mal wieder einer, der mir richtig gut gefallen hat. "Shot Caller" gehört für mich zu einem der besten Knast-Dramen. Der Film spielt nicht nur im Knast sondern auch im normalen Leben. Die Geschichte wird unglaublich spannend und packend erzählt und lässt den Zuschauer bis zum überraschenden Finale nicht mehr los, ganz besonders möchte ich die schauspielerische Leistung von Nikolaj Coster-Waldau hervorheben - ein toller Schauspieler. Wem der Film "American History" gefallen hat, dem könnte auch "Shot Caller" zusagen, irgendwie irgendwann hat er mich sehr an den Film erinnert.

Quite a boring movie. I didn't really enjoy it at all. Waste of money.
