Book three in this fast-paced and exciting series for middle grade fantasy, mystery, and animal buffs. Noah, Megan, Richie, and Ella are the Action Scouts; friends whose tree house overlooks the Clarksville City Zoo. When they discover a magical world hidden within the zoo, they are swept away on an adventure in which penguins can fly, a mysterious figure lurks in the shadows, and the scouts are enlisted to help Mr. Darby, who is in charge of the Secret Zoo. But will the scouts be able to fight against the dangerous sasquatches who have escaped the zoo and threaten their town? Thereโs only one way to find out if the four friends training as Crossers can help save the Secret Zoo. The author originally had the idea for The Secret Zoo when he was nine and wondered what would happen if zoo exhibits had secret doors that allowed kids to go insideโand the animals to come outside. He brings that sense of adventure and excitement to this story, making it a favorite for home and classroom reading along with such middle grade fantasy favorites as The One and Only Ivan.

not a bedtime story
The book is very suspenseful well written and has lots of twist turns but if you have kids that are a little sensitive or younger, it definitely is not a good bedtime story as almost every chapter ends on a cliffhanger! My 7 and 9 year olds love the books but there were definitely a few scary moments for them.

My son is 8 and I read to him everyday so I want to read books that I will enjoy also! Finding books that are appropriate for this age group can be difficult especially if you are looking for a series! This book is entertaining but not violent or scary and has wonderful characters! Love this whole series!

Great series
I have been reading this series to my six and nine-year-old children for the past few months, they absolutely love it!. Then to be honest it's a pretty interesting story line and keeps me interested and wanting to turn the pages to find out what will happen next. There is a scene in this book that made me laugh so hard I had to Compose myself for a few minutes before continuing on!

Highly recommend
Well written, imaginative, 'edge of your seat' series of novels. My children (6,10 and 13) can't get enough of these books. Would recommend for anyone age 8 and up.

A fantastic series both for young readers and adults.
This whole series is beautifully written. I read these with my 10 year old grandson. The language is more than competent and less than too sophisticated. The stories all move along beautiful. Great visual description. Lots of action. Lots of suspense.

Both my 7 and 9 year old love this story. They are enchanted by the story and beg for more chapters every night! Some chapters are very short making it ideal for a bedtime story. The story is gripping keeping me as interested as them!
