The scent is very strong—one spray and everyone in the room will know you're wearing cologne. The scent is long lasting, and the bottle will also last forever. It has a nice, masculine fragrance, but it does remind me of a certain mall clothing store that starts with an 'A,' which makes it feel less luxurious to me, but that's up to each's judgement.

American Novelist is one of those fragrances that is undoubtedly masculine, not unisex in the least. Here, we have on full display all of the proudly masculine accords you may expect in a bottle of something like Irish Spring, such as leather, pine, cedar, juniper, and bergamot. However, this avoids smelling like an "old man" fragrance by being a very versatile, bright piney fragrance for most of its life. The dry down is where the leather is left alone and the whole fragrance becomes a bit murky at that point, but thankfully it fades soon after that. Very good, very masculine fragrance ideal for many occasions.
