Good sticky rice, but expensive
This rice is fine- good- but its quality still doesn’t justify the price, to me. Maybe someone who’s more of an expert will see the value.

Great rice, just got to rinse it right!
I used to habitually use what I call quick cook rice. It's the kind that takes 5 minutes after the water is brought to boil, and it's dropped in for rehydration. I don't remember the reason, but a couple years back, I tried a long cook rice. That's the type that needs time for rinsing and cooking, which is dine by simmering the rice upwards of 20 minutes. It is far more time consuming than the quick stuff, but there's a definite payoff, in both the richer flavor profiles and superior nutritional benefits they have. This is the long cook type of rice that comes from the short grain varieties. So, it requires the rinsing step, which used to take me a good 5 to 10 minutes and way too much water for this desert dweller. So, I learned a more economical and efficient way of rinsing, which I'll take a moment to share with hopes it will help others.I still use an appropriate sized colander, but I don't let the water keep running through the rice and down the drain. Instead, I put the strainer inside the pot I'm using for the simmering step, and run the water over the rice until it's been submerged. Then I use my hand to caress the rice back and forth, much like running fingers through my hair. Once the water turns a cloudy white/grey color that looks as thick as "pea soup fog", I'll lift the colander and pour the water, then repeat. It usually takes me 2 to 3 of those rinse/repeats before the water is virtually clear. I then use that last batch of clear water for the simmering step. The difference in my water usage drops from an estimated waste of 10 gallons, to no more than 1.5. My handwash method is not only environmentally friendly, but it offers a significant decrease with time consumption. Hopefully my self taught rinsing procedure will be helpful to anyone reading this.Once rinsed, this rice take about 18 minutes of simmering to reach the finish line. The outcome is a much tastier rice compared to the quick stuff. The texture is a little sticky, but not slimy, and it still has the fluffy bounce that great rice has. I can't forget to mention the nutritional value this has over the quick rice, because it's not subject to the same processing that bleaches them out, figuratively of course. Those nutrients also contribute to the more enjoyable and savory flavor this rice has. It's another one of my favorites and gets my recommendation. Thank you.

Very delicious short grain rice. Clean, cooks easily and excellent quality.
I make rice for my dinners frequently and have wanted to try a high quality short grain rice. This rice is very good quality and it cooked really well. I really like how this rice is short and fluffy, which goes great with many of the different dishes that I make. My family really loves rice pudding, so I first tried this rice with some rice pudding. It tasted absolutely delicious and my family loved it. I didn't have to cook the rice any differently than I normally do with my regular rice and it was perfect.I received two bags wrapped together and boxed together. Both of my bags were marked with a December 15, 2025 expiration date, so it is presumably fresh when shipped and has a long shelf life. I really like that they have some recipes on the Amazon listing. They look delicious and I am planning to try the Short Grain Rice Mushroom Risotto soon. The price seems a little high, but I feel it is good given the quality of this rice. It is also cheaper when you purchase larger quantities and I use a lot of rice. I will certainly be getting this again. I highly recommend this short grain white rice.

Sushi grade rice
This is sticky rice unlike what you'd expect from jasmine rice. Make sure you rinse it well, but don't rinse it in a nonstick-coated rice pot since over time it can shorten the lifespan of your coated rice pot. The rice itself is tasty. Neutral flavor profile to give it versatility with any additions you choose. We make avocado/shrimp stacks rather than rolling into a sushi roll, and the rice holds up well.

DOMA Premium Short Grain White Rice 3.52lb
Good rice, easy to cook. I don't have a strainer, but I rinse with fresh water in the pot several times before cooking. I do think that rinsing in a strainer would be most effective as the water is still cloudy after I rinse a few times and running water over it would be better. The rice is good, it is a shorter grain and has a stickier consistency than the long grain varieties I'm familiar with. It has a neutral flavor and makes a great base for many dishes. I haven't made sushi in a long time, but I think this would be good sushi rice or for bowls with some rice wine vinegar. I also like that the bags have a sealing strip on them so I can measure out what I need and easily store it without having to transfer it to a different storage container.

Starchy and Expensive
You will receive two bags that are sealed and wrapped which was a nice plus so no leakage. The rice was sticky and too starchy for my taste. It is also expensive.

Good quality rice
Ordered the Doma Premium Short Grain White Rice, 3.52 pounds. At time of order in July 2024, the rice was about $15.00. The rice was very tasty and high quality. I would have given it 5 stars, but the price was high when compared to similar products--that is the only reason I rated it lower to 4 stars.Strengths:1 Good quality rice. Had a pleasant rice flavor.Drawbacks:1 Price was higher than other short grain rice.Overall: I rinsed the raw rice several times under cold running water. This took away some of the starch. Consequently when I cooked it, it had separate grains and was somewhat (just somewhat) fluffy. Now, this is described as short grain sushi rice. So if you rinse lightly, you will likely get a stickier rice. Some reviewers complain that the rice is too sticky--well, yes! It is supposed to be, as it described as sushi rice.
