REVIEW OF A BOOK I COULDN'T WAIT TO READ 📖📔📗😌
REVIEW OF A BOOK I COULDN'T WAIT TO READ 📖📔📗😌 What sets this book apart? What makes this click? Why do I love memoirs which are gritty and dark and full of drugs/prositution/misery? ➡️Because they offer me a peek into the other side, that side of the grass which is much worse. Much dejected. Least green. And yet so empowering. Uplifting. Some humans are miraculous beings, they belt out stories after stories of survival, pain and wonderment. Cupcake Brown is one such woman. ↩️ Her readmissions and transition in life is what the book is made of- very well and to my liking. She's now an attorney with a leading California firm and a motivational speaker. And boy, I want to someday meet her! I found certain incidents which felt all too familiar. Drugs, partying and rueful boys- I have been there. This book just made me feel am not alone in my journey to leave my past behind and to look ahead. The silver linings making each page a wait-you'll-see's. ☢️📗 Do you have any suggestions for a genre related to some gritty memoirs? Any favorites?Mine are: A million little pieces by #jamesfreyAndJunky by William S Borroughs. ❤️❤️..Last year I read- Arjun Nath's White magic and I didn't like it so much. It started really well but I lost interest.

incredible
This book has been an inspiration for so many people. My aunt got me to read this when I was fourteen and out of control. No, it didn't cure me of my ways since its no miracle worker but it certainly made me realise that I may have had it bad but this lady has had it worst and she has made something of herself. I have friends who aren't interested in books but have loved this because its honest, shocking, and its not wrote how any typical author writes, it has street writing and its like she's reciting her story to you. Its the side of the unfortunate that everyone overlooks because they're too quick to judge. A book for anyone who wants non fiction, humour, shocking you into reality.

An indomitable character
I finished reading this two weeks ago and after much reflection have decided to post a review. This book demonstrates the indomitability of the human spirit because no matter how far we descend into the abyss of human misery, we can always find a way out.Cupcake Brown found a way out of her directionless, empty, putrid existence and what amazes me, is the way she has turned her life around, especially academically, starting with 1+1.On the surface she was a foul mouthed, angry, manipulating, fraudulent crackhead and drunk but beneath that, was a desperate young girl who had been abused as well as betrayed emotionally, sexually, physically and pyschologically. My only discomfort with this book is her apparent reverie in her gangsta days of drive-by shootings and violent thuggery. However, on reflection, that is a testament to the power of this story. She told her story by honestly revealing everything in terms of the emotions, camaraderie and the sense of belonging that she derived from being with this tawdry group of people. It would so easy for me to condemn her for her revelations but without them, the book would not as impactful as it is.Cupcake Brown is an indomitable character and if her book helps to turn around at least one person who is lost and in the depths of despair, it would have served its purpose.

100% recommend... good easy read - read as spoken in such true words
Highly recommend, totally couldn't put this book down! Found the author on twitter too. Good to see she's still around, and inspiring thousands. Have read this book twice, and her strength of character is unbelievable.. Certainly an inspiration to me personally in touch times this lady often crosses my mind.

It has really made me appreciate and understand others so much better. Great read
The most heartbreaking book i have ever read. This book and the story still haunts me. My heart just goes out to each and every person that has to go through foster homes. It has really made me appreciate and understand others so much better. Great read, but have a box of tissues by your side 24/7. And be warned, you will never be the same again after this book. This book has given me so much more compassion.

This is a MUST read for one and all
I heard about this book on a trip to Egypt (of all places) and decided to read it for myself. The start of the book made me cry, the middle of the book made me laugh and the end of the book made me cry. I felt more emotions from reading this book then I have ever felt reading a book before.Cupcake is a real insperation to us all, she reminds us that we are all worth saving and there were people around who believed in her.I will not tell you anything else about this book except that you MUST read it. It is a must for all of us, Man, Woman, Child, Adult. For all of us who did not think we could be saved and for all of us that were.3All I can say is.......... Cupcake, Thank You so much for sharing your story with me. Stay Strong and Stay Blessed x
