not sure if i just got a dud, but this lamp seemed to work fine, when set up. My husband had to glue one of the rocket fins on, as it was broken in the box, but overall seemed to stand fine, and lit up well. Problem came in that it did not heat the wax inside the lamp even after 12 hours of continuous use. I read the directions and checked the bulb connection, the plug, and everything. We were very dissatisfied, as it was for our 7-year-old's birthday, and he was very excited about having his old lava lamp back (he had one previously from a different company that started leaking). We were very disappointed that the lava lamp did not function as described. But the return process was surprisingly hassle-free! I've never had to do a return before, but they offered two options: 1) send a new one, and gave us 30 days to return the defective or be charged full price; and 2) 'Returnless Refund'- where we didnt have to return the item, but we were credited the amount paid (including tax!) to our amazon account as a gift card balance. I was very pleased with how easy it was to get a different product ordered for our son, as I really didnt want to go with the same company's lamp again. The refund was immediate, and now my only problem is what do I do with this defective lamp?

Did not work so we exchanged it for a new one. The new one didn’t work either but a YouTube video helped us rig it enough to function. Would not recommend this item. Cool idea but doesn’t work.

I love the colors and it’s very durable

I don’t usually write reviews, but I ordered this as a Christmas present. We put it together and then went to plug the cord it came with in and it’s loose. It doesn’t plug in properly so it’s just a desk ornament now that doesn’t work.

This is such a fun, lava lamp. Perfect for any decor. Nice quality.

I've wanted a lava lamp since I was a kid. When I saw this lamp in a vintage spaceship style, I grabbed it up. I've not been excited about getting anything as much as this lamp for some time.Well, the big day arrived, and I eagerly opened the package. It looked like I expected, so I snapped in the fins, placed the nose cone, and turned it on. The instructions said to give it a few hours to reach the proper operating temperature, which I did.Much to my disappointment, the lava blobs never developed. Again, the instruction said not to shake the lamp or turn it upside down, which I dutifully followed. However, those requirements would be nearly impossible to follow when shipping to the end consumer. I have given the lamp three full days of operation and while the contents look better than they did see the picture), the blobs are nowhere to be seen.Because I never saw the lava lamp effect, I rate the product harshly. I also caution anyone who buys one that works to keep it away from small children and flammable objects. The sticker above the power switch says the lamp gets hot, and boy does it.

I did try to use it frequently to help it clear out the cloudiness, but it never improved. Not worth the price.
