Western Digital Elements 2Tb Portable External Hard Drive (Black), Usb3.0

This is a great hard drive. I previously had a 1 TB hard drive of WD and that worked really fine. That is why I decided to go for a 2TB hard drive of WD. Though, Seagate hard drives are much better than WD because they are thinner and they sustain for a long time like WD. I purchased it @Rs. 5599. Pros- 1. WD is a very reliable name in the field of hard drives. So it is reliable. 2. 2-year warranty. 3. small in size. 4. Reading speed is amazing. I got around 150 MBps/ 1.2 Mbps while reading. (Data was a movie and USB port was USB 3.0) 5. Writing speed is also great. I got around 55 MBps/ 440 Mbps while writing on the hard drive. (Data was a movie and USB port was USB 3.0) 6. The speed of reading and writing on USB 2.0 ports is also great. 7. USB 3.0 cable is already included in the package. So you don't need to purchase a USB 3.0 cable separately. 8. The length of the cable is enough for normal usage. 9. The product is original. So you can get is registered on WD website. You will also get your warranty from there. 10. Cheaper than Seagate models. (in general) Cons- 1. If you are in need of a long USB 3.0 cable then you will be disappointed. The length of the cable is just enough for normal usage. 2. The hard drive is somewhat thick. You will get a Seagate hard drive of the same capacity to be slimmer. Final comment- If the price is not a big issue for you and you want a slimmer hard drive then go for Seagate hard drive. Else this is certainly one of the best choices.

Decent product. Tough build, good quality, decent speed for file transfer (60-90 mb/s) . The box consist usb 3.0 cable and the hdd. I am a developer so i wanted an hdd that could act as a backup for my projects and drives which consists of large no. (around 4 million) Of small sized(10-20kb) files . Although it took around 20-30 mins to tranfer this data(around 450 gb), it was at least faster than any otger source i could try.. This does not have any build in software so it can work with Windows/mac/linux. I tested on linux/win. The other wd hdd( those colorful mypassport hdds) have some encryption software which could cause problems while using with linux, so i prefer this. And the product was delivered a day earlier than expected. So , thanks amazon.

I have been using this for many years now. It works without any issues. Decent read-write speeds. Build quality is good. I have taken care of it and it looks as good as new even after so many years.

This review is after using it for 3 years. The best HDD I've used so far. Price was a bit high comparatively. Still using it carefully. Read speed is very good compared to the write speed. Some tips I use is like keep it away from mobile phones which can cause issues. And still using it in the same box not used a separate case.

This HDD is very reliable, fast, highly compatible and capacitive. With a USB 3.0 connection to your PC, this hard drive rocks. Just lacks a sleek look, and is quite weighted, but never disappoints you when it comes to your work. Customer support is good, but is not available everywhere, but atleast not as Seagate which even doesn't even helps. Allover, product is value for money!

Compact and so far reliable. I registered my WD hard disk on their official website the day I received it and instantly received an acknowledgement for a near 2-year warranty via email. I recommend new owners do the same. I already own a 1TB WD External HDD for a few years now facing my share of problems with it, but so far my experience has mostly been positive. I purchased this hard disk back in 2018 and till now 1) No bad sectors 2) No Defects 3) Dropped twice from height of 1.5 feet, still working 4) Works on OTG as well (Checked on Realme 1,2,x, Oneplus 5,6,7t and many more mobiles) 5) Still gives 80-90 mbps copying speed while copying from External to Internal or vice-versa

I purchased WD element online and received yesterday. I would like to share my experience with the device : 01. Such a costly device like external hard disk box was packed quite carelessly. It was not wrapped with the Blistered Bubble plastik sheet unlike in most cases it appears. 2. When I booked The WD Elements 2 TB external portable Hard Disk Drive, I found that it is of 400 gram against the weight 231 gm showed by the Amazone website. So, the actual weight is nearly double than that they mentioned in the website. 3. The data transfer speed is very slow ranges from 26 Mbps maximum to 75 Kbps minumum, which is very slow than that mentioned 5GBps in the website.This feature is very very remarkable and the product fails to perform this. 4. I received the product Made in Thailand, instead of made by US. I strongly dislike this. 5. The Product catches heat and gets warm during transfer of data, which may reduce its performance and damage electronic components and magnetic storage interface very often very fast. 6. Some of the user mentioned in their earlier reviews that the product was corrupted after 6 months ( I hope this may not occur to me, as I have purchased with my hard earned money, Good God.), 7. In case of the The WD Elements 2 TB external portable Hard Disk Drive gets corrupted, data can not be retrieved due to unavailability of the back up facility. 8. While data transferring the device creates humming sound which, I think, may cause heating effect due to certain type of internal friction. 9. The WD Elements 2 TB external portable Hard Disk Drive does not bear the serial identification number given by the manufacturer. One can not verify if the original product is replaced by the duplicate one at any stage between manufacturer and the customer. 10. There is no backup utility provided or availble for this device. Tried downloading one trail software as mentioned in one of the tech manuals. But could not activate it as there was no activation key available. WD should provide appropriate instructions. 11. As I know the storage capacity is slightly less than that shown/mentioned on the product. But in my case The WD Elements 2 TB external portable Hard Disk Drive, I purchased online by Amazone bears only 1.8 TB storage capacity which is considerably 10 % less than that they mention on the website. This is unbearable loss to the customer. Do the online supplier supply such selected product which has less storage capacity or substandard in one or another way?
