So far it seems to be working
The ultrasonic pest repellent I bought to tackle our rodent problem at home has been a game-changer. It's easy to use - just plug it in and forget about it. The best part is, it blends in seamlessly with our decor so our guests have no idea what it really does. Since setting it up, we haven't heard any creepy scratching or chomping sounds. Fingers crossed for long-lasting results!

Oh Dear - My Dog Went Mad
OK, this is a good product, no idea if it gets rid of spiders (that's what appealed to me) but I turned it on and it was flashing all over the place and the dog started barking, running away and then barking again. I thought it may have been the lights, so I turned the LED lights off, and it didn't make any difference. You can hear, as a human, a little noise, which is probably when it's send out it's sonic noise, but the dog barked every time after I heard the tiny noise, so it was affecting him.The minute I turned it off, he went quiet and was fine, so this isn't all pet friendly as my dog didn't like it at all.I cannot tell you whether it repels insects and mice, but it repelled my dog, and that wasn't the plan!

Multi mode deterrent or repellent
A while ago I had a mouse infestation in my workshop, just 2 of them but the destruction they did before it was apparent was horrible, we were still finding nests, waste and chewed things for weeks. So I am keen on any deterrent against it ever happening again, having taken physical blocking measures of course, any device that makes my place undesirable will be useful. This little device has various options, in normal modes it acts as a deterrent with constant high frequency sweeps. There is also a mode where the unit is activated by one of the 3 PIR sensors covering all around it, this is a reactive mode to suddenly alarm any pests in the hope they flee in fear.Personally I wouldn't use this mode, if I am at the point of an infestation I am not relying on sound waves instead of proper humane traps. The unit also has LED strobe lights, the intention is in the dark it would also stress pests. Same applies as my previous sentence, they can be switched off though. There is a light sensor to avoid daytime operation as well.Unusually the unit comes with a power supply as well as a decent length USB cable. Note there is no battery, the unit has to be plugged into a power supply to operate.Quality - the engineer in me can be cynical about electronics products, so I was pleased on internal examination to find that all the speaker grills are genuine with a speaker behind each of them. also the 3 PIR sensors are also genuine and so is the high frequency emitter, excellent! So I am deploying this in my workshop as a deterrent, working full time, lights off and hopefully it will be beneficial, but of course we will never really know as if no mice come along there is nothing to deter, its pure chance. Also be aware, as with any ultrasonic generator, as its not possible to be aware of the sound level, to avoid any risk to your hearing its best to site such units away from long exposure for people as much as possible.Current price is 25 quid, which for the quality of the unit seems sensible.

No Effect
I had hope that this would work, alas it was to be a forlorn one.I placed Roshield mouse poison ( red ) just in front of the Roshield emitter. If the bait was untouched I intended to move the bait further away until I established the effective range, then put another emitter in place so as to cover the entire area. Bait all gone after a week. I then changed light and frequency setting and re-laid bait. One week on bait all gone. Last week changed bait to Roshield blue coloured - thought it might be an improvement - bait taken.I think the bait and the device have no effect on mice.

It does something
So wanted to test this out and saw the 'The ultrasonic sound waves specifically target rodents and do not affect your dog or cat.' and assumed all was fine using near my dog, turned it on and he bolted and he's not even a dog breed known for good hearing (he ignores me normally, I think its just he can lip read food, treats, dinner that he comes to those words)Its some serious looking kit and has a quality feel to it, so it looks like it will do something as my dog for sure was not happy to be around it.One thing I couldn't quite understand initially was the PIR's as I can get it say for mice but Im pretty sure ants wont be triggering anything, but it seems one mode is solely for the use of being activated by mice.So Im pretty sure it's working and its use for me is in the garage so it wont be near my dog so should be okay as he for sure isnt comfortable around itFurther research on this turned up some dogs can be upset by ultrasonic devices whilst others dont bat an eyelid so its not specific to this device
