My dog chewed the top right corner of my brand new TCL tv’s remote. This one looks identical and worked immediately after I put the batteries in, no programming needed at all!

Programming the buttons isn't too much trouble.

I may be a senior (80 yrs old) but a bit of a control freak - electronically speaking. I program and use much more complex devices for my various TV systems. This would ALMOST provide all the capabilities that I make use of. I program "macros" to combine multiple button presses into a single button. For example, one button that stops my Roku streaming device and turns off both the TV and multichannel amplifier. Similarly, one button that turns everything on and selects the desired input on the TV.This can't do that, but all other remotes that I'm aware of that can do that have many more buttons than required for everyday needs. I did find that using the learning function, I was able to learn buttons from a 3rd device, so it is able to control more than 2 devices. That won't be needed in most situations, but I thought I should point that out.I have to admit, it isn't as easy to program as some, but I was able to do everything I wanted for everyday use except create macros.Bottom line is that I can recommend this for seniors that want a remote with large buttons and don't have complex needs. In many cases, seniors might want someone younger to do the programming.

It's no exaggeration when I say I've been scouring the internet for years for this! I wanted a remote for my autistic toddler that is like a regular remote without the extra stuff. I wanted volume, channel, power, arrows, and ok. This is harder to find than I would've thought! The ones for kids and elderly seem to have no actual directional pad for some reason. This worked for both my Sony Bravia TV's out of the box with no programming required. The bottom slides down for me and my kid is so proud of his ability to control the TV himself. Highly recommend this!
