Lid cracked and imploded with a BANG!
Updated 02/28/2025: I reached out to the seller regarding the lid and they sent me a whole new unit. This has worked great for me for months. It always seals and holds a vacuum for a long time. Based on how it's worked and the excellent customer service, I have upped to 5 stars---I have been using this unit for de-gassing resin and for stabilizing rocks with resin for a few months and it has worked fine. It hold a vacuum well. Today while stabilizing some rock material, after sitting at a vacuum for several hours (I only ran the pump for 12 minutes and it held the vacuum fine), the lid imploded and broke into several pieces with a loud BANG!. It freaked us out! The lid was fine with no damaged prior to this. I have reached out to the vendor about getting a replacement.

Lid exploded on 4th use.
The pump did fine and the pot was fine. However during its 4th use the cracked name imploded. If you’re looking for a vacuum pot I’d suggest something with a thicker lid.

Some tips and tricks for using this - 4 stars
Scroll down for some vacuum pumping tips, but let me get the bad part out of the way first: It was shipped with oil in the pump. So as you can imagine, it leaked everywhere inside the pump container. Normally pumps are shipped dry. This makes me think it was either a return that was sent back out to me or the factory didn't properly drain all the remaining oil from the pump after quality control testing it. Whatever the reason, it was a pain in the you-know-what to clean all the oil off of it. I'm not sure if this will end up affecting the life of the pump or not. Time will tell. The pump and vacuum chamber are good. I originally was planning on giving this 2-3 stars because of the oil having leaked out, but I think the overall quality of the vacuum chamber and pump are enough to raise it to 3.5-4 stars. The chamber held the vacuum correctly after disconnecting the pump, and the pump itself got all the air out of the chamber in under 3 minutes. Not too bad for a single stage 1/4hp. The directions are horrible however and don't really help much if you are new to using these. When you are assembling the gauge onto the lid, make sure one of the white rubber washers is on the top of the lid and the other one on the bottom. You want those touching the lid directly, and then the metal washers should be touching the rubber ones next. Also, fill the oil to between the Min and Max lines. If you get it too close to Max, a lot of the oil will mist out thru the exhaust port when you are using the pump. Some overall things to know about using these, if you haven't used them before.1. The maximum vacuum level you can get varies with your altitude. I see a lot of materials saying you need to pull 29inHg to get a vacuum. But they don't tell you that it depends on your altitude. Do a search for vacuum levels at different altitudes to find out what is good for your specific location.2. Once you get to the inHg you need, don't shut off your pump first! Always close off the valve on the chamber first. If you don't, the chamber will start to suck air back into itself and it will pull that air from your pump. That means you will also get oil splatter from your pump going into your chamber and contaminating everything in there. Once you have closed off the valve, you can turn off and disconnect the pump.3. When it's time to let air back in, use the valve that has the filter on it and go slowly at first. If you open it too fast, the rush of air can blow down into your liquid and make it splash.4. The little black cap on top of the gauge doesn't need to be cut off. You can just pull it off to help "reset" the gauge based on your current altitude and temperature. Then put it back on. If you cut it off, you won't have any protection to stop the liquid from coming out of the top when you end up turning the lid upside down accidentally. Don't ask me how I know.5. To get the initial vacuum going, you may have to push down around the edge of the lid to help it get suction at first. Make sure the the lid has the rubber gasket around the edges.Hope this helps and you found this useful!

Great for soft plastic bait makers
The media could not be loaded. Very satisfied with my purchase. This worked great right out of the box. Great quality, and very easy to use with the included instructions. I think it’s definitely worth the price tag. The included pump oil came without leaking and the noise is moderate, not super loud like some others.

Great pressure pot, pump is *okay* for most use
This is a great kit all things considered and being able to get a vacuum pump and a pressure pot for $130 at the time of review with a $20 coupon knocking it down to $110 is pretty incredible.I'm giving it 5 stars because you should not be expecting an incredible vacuum pump for $110 but the pressure pot is top notch and you could easily upgrade the fittings to a larger gauge vacuum line if you wanted. The silicon non-stick mat is a nice addition and I appreciate it came with oil because I've gotten other cheap pumps that didn't come with oil.It was well packed and definitely gets the job done. Try using carnauba wax or loctite's frekote product to keep the silicon from sticking to the inside.

Needs Better Instructions, But Great Once You Figure it Out!
I am using this for epoxy. I still consider myself new to epoxy, so not having detailed instructions kind of threw me a curve ball when trying to first use the vacuum chamber. Luckily, I found information on line and was able to figure it out. Now that I have it working, it is great. The chamber and pump are well made. The pump is not at all loud when using and it seems like a pump that will last a long time. The chamber has an acrylic lid and everything sealed well for me. I am currently working with small items, so the size of the chamber is perfect for what I’m doing. I saw no bubbles in my epoxy after running a couple batches through it. I believe the price point is fair for the product.

Lid failed (cracking/crazing) on first use
During the first use of this vacuum chamber I noticed crazing (fine spider web cracking) on the lid. Obviously this is very concerning. I have returned the first one for a replacement, if the replacement is better I will update my review.
