Purple Hearts: A Novel

If you love the movie…
If you love the movie, you’ll like the book. I’m obsessed with the Netflix film, so I read the book afterwards. There are some significant plot differences that I’m happy they changed in the film version. The chemistry between the main characters wasn’t as palpable in the book, and their actual characterization was a little less red+blue=purple. However, I really enjoyed the way chapters were set up as a back and forth between Cassie and Luke. Fun and easy, I read the whole thing in 2 days.

Loved it because I loved the movie!
I absolutely LOVE the movie! It’s an all time favorite already.I think without the chemistry of the actors in the movie to serve as a basis I could see this book being a little forgettable. I think there is a great base to this book. The plot is fairly solid, the character development itself was pretty interesting. What it lacked were those details, the mannerisms, the depth of the relationship, the burn of an unstable romance.Cassie and Luke weren’t together and then they were. There wasn’t the longing and need you get from falling head over heals.Their personal triumphs were amazing!Spoiler:I hate the cheating plot though especially after Cassie was indignant about it. I really like that the movie left that out.

Better than the movie 🎥
Comparing the book to the movie is no comparison. The movie left out so many aspects of the relationship and totally wrote its own ending. They both run so many similarities, but ran in totally different directions. Hollywood should be ashamed for writing its own ending and in doing so, drug a hero veteran thru the mud. Doesn't fit the book at all! The books ending may be a bit of a cliffhanger, but still left readers with satisfaction that love won. Stick to the book.

love the story
I’m usually 100% all for a book versus a movie. But I have to say I like how the story is played out in the movie versus the book. I feel like there are just more awkward moments in the book that don’t make sense. Or that wouldn’t actually happen give the circumstances.Story line is great either way. Book and movie made me cry. So all in all good book to read def rec.

Ugh!!
It ended too soon. Questions were left unanswered! Other than that it was a good read. Slow in the middle, but a good read.

I really enjoyed this book .
I started to read this book after I saw the movie , as many did .But , opposite to some opinions , which I read on Amazon , I enjoyed the book much more .Cassie and Luke of the book was much more real , living persons , less perfect and sweet .I think , this book is of much higher quality, than most of love stories I read and I would recommend it to any who would like to read love story which feels real

Cute story!
When I heard they were making this into a movie I knew I had to read it first. I loved the story line and I loved how you got both of their point of views. I did struggle grasping a time line, it all seemed to move really fast (ie he was only deployed for like 3 chapters, didn’t feel like 6 months). I was angry about the way it ended, there are so many unanswered questions! I would definitely read it again.

How can you end it there?
I decided to only read this book because I saw that the film was coming out on Netflix so I wanted to make sure that I got through this book first so I knew what the film was going to be about and that I could compare the two. As books go, this is not a book that will stay with me. It’s not a book that will make me shout about how great it is and try and convince my friends to read it. It’s not a book that even gave me loving feelings about the story. However, I did enjoy it. It was short and sweet. I think it could have been written a lot better. But overall; it was a nice book.

Quick easy read
This had all the makings of a wonderful book. Loved the premise, loved the characters. Enjoyed the book but didn’t love it. I found it easy to get distracted whilst reading - and I think it’s purely because the chapters were so short. You only get three - four at a push - pages from each view point before it flips back to the other character. It made me feel like we’d just start to get to know them and then it would move on.As a diabetic it was nice to see a character dealing with it in a mostly realistic way, and it made me feel incredibly thankful to be in the UK where I don’t have to think about paying for the essential medicines that I have to take daily. This story had great potential but just didn’t quite get there for me. I am looking forward to watching the movie version which is out on Netflix next week. Sofia Carson has an amazing voice and I think she’ll make a great Cassie.Worth a read if you want something easy and that you can pick up and put down if that makes sense.

Purple Hearts
The book is so good but right at the beginning of My book I have pages 129-156 and red them then got to the start page. So thought I would look and those pages are missing from the middle of the book. I am as not to happy at all.
