An adequate gadget for analysing terrestrial and satellite TV signals.
This is a not bad version of more expensive professional instruments. It will give you useful information on signal strength, the 'quality' of the reception measuring signal to radio noise. If you're interested in this type of thing, this gadget is a good introduction. The device will 'scan' the received TV band - you have to set the country first, although it will search 'blind'. You can then see the TV picture via the electronic program guide it receives. You can switch through the free to air TV channels to see the received picture with sound. The same applies for the satellite search, although I would recommend using the analyser on a known aligned dish first - it will populate the channel guide for you. There are some features which are not really of use: the 'spectrum analyser' function is not much use other a very rough indication of the spectrum it's using. Unlike expensive versions of this device, there is no constellation analysis of the 'QAM', which is fascinating if you get to view it. For the current price, it's a useful toy of you have need of one. I expect it would be popular for caravan TV reception, where the dish/aerial is set up at each encampment.
