Q: What type of metal makes up these curtain rings?

specifically I can't say, but it's a metal, and it's magnetic, so iron based. I've had a set up in a slightly damp hall holding a heavy curtain, and they've been fine. No rusting at all and the clips still all work

I'm sorry that we haven't done such a test before, so we can't give you an accurate answer. If your curtains are heavy, we suggest you use more clips, spaced close together, they are enough to support most curtains. Hope this may help you, thanks.

I haven’t used them yet, but I would guess they may not hang straight if you used the tape depending on the weight of the curtain, tops would probably sag forward.

No, the clip is attached to the ring, but you can remove it manually with a tool.
