The main purpose of a steering-wheel lock is to make the thief decide that a different car would be easier to steal. This lock will certainly do that, and it's colored bright yellow to help the most nearsighted miscreant see it before they break the window.If the rascal is intent on stealing this particular car, then defeating the lock is necessary. A brute-force attack would try to bend or break the notched rod where it is inserted into the main rod. I didn't try doing that, because it would damage both the lock and the steering wheel. I don't think most thieves would try that. This lock has a cruciform pin tumbler, with four rows of pins. Cruciform locks are difficult to pick. There are other ways the lock could be defeated, but I won't mention them here, and most thieves wouldn't have the knowledge or equipment to do it.For the price, this is an amazingly well-made lock. If I had to leave my car for a week in a lawless area like Los Angeles or Oakland, I would put this lock on the steering wheel and clear everything else out of the car. Then the thieves would probably steal somebody else's car. I pity the poor schlimazel whose car gets stolen, but at least they wouldn't get mine.

I have owned one of these steering wheel locks before, but the lock/key was a single blade design and was pretty easy to pick. This lock has a four blade lock/key so there are 4 sets of pins instead of just one set. This makes it much more secure and almost impossible to pick. To help get the right blades in the right cuts if the lock, they have marked one of the cuts with a red dot, and the key head has a notch cut out of it for matching with the red dot.

With knowledge of amount of automobile thefts I decided to use this when parking in high risk locations.The Yellow color is highly visible and hopefully thieves pass by. There is a x shape key that lines up with red dot and turning operates lock.The tube the notched shaft goes into had rust so you’ll probably want to oil it.My Ford Escape steering wheel was a diameter which is larger than the slot on one side. It still engages but would be nicer if it was larger.It is easy to put on and take off so you probably will use

We decided to try the SURDOCA Car Steering Wheel Lock Anti-Theft Device. Our first impression was the bright yellow color does create a visual deterrent, but this device will not stop your vehicle from being stolen. The steering wheel can still be manipulated / turned with the device attached, although the driver’s door might have to be opened slightly. We did like the lock cylinder equipped with two hard-to-duplicate cross keys and the ease of attaching it to the steering wheel. We plan to use this device as a deterrent only and with our other vehicle disabling tools.

looks and feels durable key shape has interesting design, locks and unlocks easily. definitely gives me some easy knowing that I have extra security applied.
