A decent tablet for the money
What you have to remember with a tablet like this is that you are getting what you pay for. In this case you get a lot for relatively little money. Where else would you get a Wi-Fi 6, HD tablet for under £80?Typical of UMIDIGI it comes with a case and screen protector pre-fitted. That's going to save you a few pounds.Pros:Responsive, decent speed, good wi-fi connection, latest Android 14, you can add up to 1tb micro SD card, USB C charging (although that's not super fast charging), good battery life, quad core processor, comes with case and screen protectorCons:A little chunky, not fast charge. But remember this is a low cost tablet. You wouldn't buy it for the camera.

Vibrant, Crisp Display, Budget-Friendly Tablet
The Umidigi G1 Tab Mini stands out as a great option for those seeking comfort and functionality without a hefty price tag. I recently tested this tablet and was pleasantly surprised by its strong battery life- it outlasted my Pixel 4a during light use. The 8-inch size strikes a happy medium between a tablet and a mobile phone, making it ideal for reading and browsing, much like a modern "phablet."When I first unboxed it, I noticed its thickness, which felt sturdy despite its lightweight design. This thickness comes from the included silicone protective cover, adding to the tablet's overall durability while also providing a comfortable grip. The textured silicone feels great in your hands and ensures a secure hold, especially useful when I'm scrolling through recipe tabs in the kitchen. I've found that I prefer using it there most often; it's easy to manage while cooking and keeps me focused on my culinary tasks without the worry of slipping. The display is vibrant and crisp- no complaints for web browsing and watching videos. Colors pop with clarity, and the display definitely holds its own. While it performs well indoors, outdoor visibility might be hampered by glare. For casual viewing and light tasks, the display does a fine job.Powered by a quad-core processor with 3 GB of RAM, the G1 Tab Mini handles basic everyday applications with ease. Whether scrolling through social media, watching YouTube, catching up on the news, or playing chess, it performed very well. However, when multitasking or using more demanding apps or heavier games, the tablet eventually slows down and battery runs out much faster. The interface is intuitive and streamlined, with no complaints there. Navigation is smooth, and there's minimal bloatware to clutter the experience. The 5000 mAh battery exceeded my expectations, often lasting a few days with light activity throughout the day. It was useful for lots of browsing and reading without the constant need for a charger.Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are reliable, performing well during my testing and connecting seamlessly to my Bluetooth earbuds and speakers. The audio quality from the built-in speakers leaves some room for improvement. While the sound is loud enough for casual listening, it lacks the depth and richness that can enhance the experience of watching musicals or concerts. However, the speakers perform reasonably well for podcasts and lectures, capturing the spectrum of human voices effectively. In fact, they handle spoken content much better than music, seems like it's able to capture depth better in human speaking voices for some reason. This tablet is an impressive contender for anyone in search of an affordable option. With its sturdy yet lightweight build, comfortable silicone grip, and vibrant display, it caters nicely to casual users. Unfortunately, it does not appear to have built-in GPS. Despite these limitations- namely lack of GPS, and lack of richness in audio quality- it still offers excellent value for the price.I rate it for basic use as a budget tablet for basic use (web browsing, checking email, listening to podcasts and watching the news and light gaming), not for heavy multitasking, and for this purpose, it delivers well and exceeded my expectations. While my Google Pixel handles complicated multitasking better, the camera quality on this tablet exceeds that of the Pixel, and its battery life is significantly better. For these reasons, though it lacks GPS, I would consider it a solid 4.6 for a budget-friendly tablet. For those primarily seeking a reliable device for light use, the G1 Tab Mini is a worthy contender. Its practical design and focus on user comfort were a pleasant surprise. (Plus, the distinct red charging cable is a helpful touch, making it easy to spot among other accessories.) It also includes a one-year warranty from the company, who are very responsive. Naturally, those with more demanding needs may want to explore higher-end options. For me, it's a nice companion especially in my kitchen to use daily for listening to the news and cooking videos and games.

Excellent price for an excellent tablet.
Right out of the box...Wow!Nice weight to it, it feels sturdy. I was initially sad about 2 things. (Read on lol)1) it wasn't the lavender color I ordered2) it was too thick for the case I boughtBUT WAIT!!! Turns out it was too thick because it came already protected in a Silicone case ALSO it has a screen protector installed! The tablet itself is lavender colored it's the case that's a smokey grey.So back to the review; it was very nicely boxed, though Amazon could have cushioned it better. It was buffered by scrunched up kraft paper. I would have like to see a good bubble wrap too. This is a wifi tablet and it was already 95% charged. I love the red charge cord, I won't forget that it belongs to the tablet. When setting it up it initially wants you to connect to another device, android or iOS. You're supposed to use the other devices charge cord to connect the 2. However I don't carry the double ended USB-C with me so I wasn't able to transfer data. I would say that point should be clarified...that the double USB-C is required...so go dig that out first!Adnote to that...I don't use many apps on the tablet so I just downloaded them and google did the rest. Not sure I wanted everything transferred yet anyways lol.I've now been using the tablet for a while and it's still doing mostly well. There are a couple glitches but when I contacted Umidigi they reminded me that there is a one year warranty! The last update seems to have cleared up the issues so I may not be needing to send it back or whatever. The picture is very clear, photos are pretty much what you would expect, not fabulous but not bad either lol.I had ordered a case for it before I knew the tablet came protected, it fit but only if I removed the silicone case, the camera wouldn't have worked either. Also because of the placement of the control buttons some cases will interfere. So instead I bought a cool stretchy strap that clips to the top and bottom corners so I can just slide my hand in the back and it's secure. The tablet is faster than I expected with the occasional lag but I think I only notice that compared to my higher end phone. I'm very happy with this tablet overall. I can surf the 'net, play my games (I don't play streaming games tho lol), I can watch all my tv apps with no lag and it's the perfect size to read my books on.Over all...love it. If you're looking for lightning fast reaction times you may need to look at a considerably more expensive tablet. You can't beat this price for an awesome tablet.

Perfect little distraction device
I didn't want to Kindle because I found them limiting so I got this instead for reading my ebooks. I was pretty surprised when it came with its own little case and I was able to customize it without actually sticking the stickers to it. I was able just to put them in the back between the case and the tablet. I can easily just switch them out. The camera is decent. The tablet works well with my earbuds for audible and all of my ebook formats work because I can download other e-readers from the Google store.I actually love this thing. The speed is fine and it does everything I need. I can even connect a keyboard to it for some light typing and upload the documents to Google docs so it's perfect. And it fits in my purse. The last thing of course is the price. I paid way less than a Kindle. And even was able to kick in the 2-year asurion warranty against dropping it. I feel I got more bang for my buck in the end. It has more functionality and I'm not limited to books that have DRM. I can read all of my old ebooks and more formats. I can watch Netflix and Hulu and pretty much do everything. It's a perfect little distraction device. No regrets.

Look Ma...one handed viewing!!!
I just picked up the Umidigi G1 Tab Mini. It is a solid choice for budget-minded consumers looking for a compact Android tablet. It offers a decent display, good battery life, and smooth performance for everyday tasks. However, it's worth noting that this is a budget tablet and some corners had to be cut to bring this tablet down to the amazing price I paid for it.Pros:Compact and lightweight designGood battery lifeSmooth performance for everyday tasksAffordable priceVirtually a clean Android Experience with no bloatware.Cons:Camera quality could be betterNot the best screen for media consumptionNot the fastest processor on the planet.Overall:The Umidigi G1 Tab Mini is a solid budget tablet that offers good value for the price. I was surprised at the quality of the build for the money. It's perfect for everyday tasks like browsing the web, checking email, and watching videos. However, if you're looking for a tablet for gaming or heavy multitasking, you may want to consider spending a bit more on a more powerful model.
