The remote is an excellent feature of this lamp. The controls on the lamp itself are a bit wonky and there are only preset colors, and that's why this gets a 4 instead of a 5 from me. Otherwise, really like this lamp, I would recommend it if you're looking for a fun, but effective, light with more colorful and white lights.

Included in the box were 5 poles wired together including the light, a heavy solid base, remote control, AC cord & plug, a user manual and an information sheet about the remote. The AC plug is UL-safety certified for use in Canada. The light is easy to assemble by screwing in each pole, starting with the top one with the light. Once the pole is put together, it can be screwed into the base. The remote requires two "AAA" batteries (not included).The light is very cool! There are two sides to it, with one side having 4 temperatures of white (2,700K, 4000K, 5000K & 6500K), and the other side having 7 colours: red, green, blue, pink-purple, yellow, aqua (cyan), and white.The lights can be put straight up and down, or can be turned on an angle downwards. For instance, you can have a reading light facing downwards on you while a green light is reflecting on the walls behind you. Or you could have a coloured light shining on you with a white light on the ceiling and walls. The RGB side also has variety of flashing modes.There are three buttons on the pole. The bright white light lights up the room and the RGB side has lots of options for mood lighting. The remote allows me to turn the light on or off and change the colour and brightness from my bed or chair. Being able to turn the light on any angle allows any colour in any direction. The remote is also magnetic and sticks to the pole or other metal objects when not in use which makes it less likely to be lost.
