This automatic feeder holds more food than most of the automatic feeders I found (on-line) and I purchased it because the old auger type feeder I used failed after 8 years of use (6 years use for my old dog). It took my current Dalmatian dog a few days to get used to the new machine (I think the voice recording I made scares him hearing my voice with me standing across the room), but he finally caught on (after he used the old machine for over 2 years). It has also been a trial-and-error process to figure out how much food each of the food increments delivers. Owner's book that comes with the unit does not give an amount of food for each increment (so I try to feed my dog around 2 cups of food in the morning and a cup and half in the evening). So far, after a week's time the machine is working, and I hope me and my dog get a long life out of the feeder. It does not seem to be as robust in design as the old pet feeder that had an external timer unit. I have only had one feeder clog error message with this new machine and had to twist the blade shaft to clear the blades. Actually, having the unit display an error message when a clog is detected is a nice feature because the machine let me know that it did not complete a feeding session so I could manually feed my dog. I know, I don't like to be hungry! I also like this machine because it doesn't have a camera, Internet and Wi-Fi access. After having 3 dogs using a feeder machine, I find those high-tech amenities unnecessary. My main reason for having a feeding machine is to feed the same amount of food at the same time of the day because dogs like routine and it keeps my dog fit and healthy. Usually, the feed schedule of the machine is when I am having a meal so we are both eating at the same time.

I love it but if yr kibbles have like big peices it will get stuck and yr dog will not get the right amount of dog food. So u have to make sure. Thats what sucks about this product. They shoukd have though about that when making this product. Also when u choose the 1-10 days it meas how many times a day u feed yr dog. Then the seconds is how much u feed yr dog. So if u usually feed yr dog 4 cups put the 4 cups in the container then once it goes through all the 4 cups thats how much seconds you use. So mine was 45 seconds is 1 1/2 cup in 8am and 1 1/2 cup at 12pm. In military hours. Just so u can understand what they mean cus they r not descriptive about it on the directions. You are welcome!!! Lol. It last for like 4-5days for 3cups a day. If u give more or less and or take a way a day. Def recommend. But thats why I heaven it a 4. Cus the kibkes get stuck when u have big chunks of dogfood.

“Large food tray” is not an accurate description, it barely holds a cup of food. The motor that dispenses food is not powerful enough to handle my dogs kibble. Jammed and had to dislodge pieces. Returned item because it was not working for our dog. Base of the feeder should be wider to make it more stable.

This feeder is a lifesaver! My vet suggested my cat eat more meals with smaller portions, and this feeder makes it so easy with up to 6 customizable feedings a day. The food drops smoothly due to the sloped bowl. It supports both wall plug and 4 AA batteries so I don't need to worry about power outage messing up the settings. Plus, the voice recording feature is a cute bonus—my cat comes running when he hears it! Highly recommend!
