Awesome, little 4K camera.
I have been researching sports cam for a bit now and I splurged on this AKASO V50 Native 4K camera because other reviewers said the quality was similar to the much higher priced, GoPro.When the camera arrived, there were a bunch of accessories with it. Since I won’t use most of them, I had to get myself a container to keep everything in -- just in case you found yourself wanting to try out a new mount. Some of the popular accessories such as a floatie stick, head strap, chest strap, etc. did not come with the camera but there are a bunch of options out there for additional purchase. The other accessory you will need is to purchase a microSD HC card, 32GB or lower. There is no internal memory so don't expect to save clips on your camera. As for the camera setup, it was quite easy with a few issues. First, it was hard to open the original packaging! Second, getting the camera out of the protective, waterproof case took me a while. Also, the batteries come with a pull tab on them. This is for removing the battery out of the camera, not to make the battery accessible. I peeled off the pull tab before realizing this -- so, some literature in the instructions would have been helpful there. For getting the mechanics set up the way you want, it is a touch screen and easy to navigate through your options. The quality of the captured video is quite nice. The outdoor, sunny video clips looked the best and true to 4K quality. At night, the picture is a bit grainier, which was to be expected. Even the larger HD handheld cameras from Canon have a hard time producing quality video at night. I was really pleased with the quality of the videos; the few photos I took looked nice as well. Battery life is pretty good as well. It comes with two, so you can have a fully-charged battery for backup. The audio was iffy -- not the best as it makes a lot of popping noises when people were talking as if the microphone couldn't handle the frequencies. I wouldn't plan on capturing a lot of dialogue without soundproofing first. For those interested in file output, the video files are .MOV, which makes it nice since it can import directly into iMovie or other editing software. I just drag and drop the files from the microSD card to my computer, thus making transfer a breeze. The phone app that is recommended for this camera. When the camera wirelessly connects to your phone, you can view your video and photo files on your phone and transfer them over. My phone doesn't have a lot of space, but this is nice if you want to upload a clip or photo to Facebook or other social media.Another big plus is the waterproof feature. However, when I'm not planning for it to get wet, I like to keep it out of the waterproof case since the case adds an extra film over the lens, which can make the picture not as sharp. The best thing about the camera is its size and portability. Without the bulky case, you can slide it in and out of your pocket to capture some nice video without it being too obvious or cumbersome.A good, solid recommend for those who want to add a sports cam to their video technology.

Highly recommended for content creators!!!
I had issue with my first one, so I contacted Akaso and they promptly sent me out a replacement. They were very apologetic and had amazing customer service. I received my new V50 Pro and I love it. The image is clear and crisp. It comes with quite a few accessories and even a waterproof case. It stabilizes video very well and you can't beat filming in 4K at 60fps. I honestly don't have anything negative to say about it. For the price you get a great action camera that's up there with high tier brands.

An entry level camera good for the price
An entry level camera good for the price, with many accessories. The videos are recorded uncompressed so they can take up to 3GB (can be easily reduced to 1GB with a video converter), you can send them to your phone via the ad-hoc camera's wifi (but can take a long time though). Comes with to batteries, each last about a couple of hours, so you have to keep starting and stopping the recording if you want to record your entire journey. The quality is good unless you use the waterproof casing, in which case the quality is reduced substantially (and there is almost no sound recording). Overall, excellent if you just want to record a trip or two cheaply.

Great option for a budget-minded action camera!
Is this a GoPro? No. Does it need to be? No. If you are considering this camera it is because of the stabilized 4K. There are plenty of other options that have 1080 stabilized. The stabilization works great. The first day I had mine I stuck it to my windshield and set off about town. The roads here are not smooth, and the camera handled it with ease. I took video on my phone at the same time to compare, and the shakes and rattles evident in my phone video were minimal (if at all) in the AKASO video. The colors are true and accurate, and the sound is good. I did not mess with any settings, but there is definitely enough options to appease the more critical of the crowd. I have no use for the remote control (yet) so I have not tested its function at all. The battery life is right around 2 hours and the included 2 batteries and charger dock are a welcome bonus. The biggest drawback is the quality of the 1080 video. It leaves room for improvement, but the upside of this is that the hardware this camera is made from (chipset, image sensor) have proven very capable in 1080 on other platforms, so it may be a simple firmware fix. I purchased my camera in August on a lightning deal, and have used it a fair amount. The build quality is good, and the menus are intuitive and functional. The only issue I have noticed with the actual camera is a couple bubbles under the rear touch screen. This has been the case with 2 of these cameras, so I think it may be an issue in production. It doesnt affect the function of the screen at all, nor is it really visible when the camera is on. It is only noticed when powered off, so its not a deal-breaker by any means.About 2 months after receiving it, the case latch broke, a common issue with action cameras. I was bummed out. I reached out to the company and they immediately sent me 2 replacement pieces without issue. After browsing other reviews, I noticed there were comments about the external microphone. I checked my camera and found it to be incompatible with an external mic. I contacted the company again, this time to see if there was a firmware update that would allow me to use that function. After some simple info exchange it was determined that my camera was Version 1, and the company was already distributing Version 6. I was given the option to return the camera for an even exchange. I was skeptical at best, but decided to go ahead. It cost me $11 to ship it back, and within a few days of its delivery, I received a brand new camera and an external microphone. I was/am blown away by this level of customer service, and Sunny from AKASO exceeded all of my expectations. Any hesitation you may have in purchasing an off-brand action camera, I hope I can alleviate with my experience of their customer service.Overall, I would absolutely recommend this camera/company. I have owned other brands, including GoPro, and the bang for your buck is definitely here. I will continue to update this review as needed and as I test out the function of other features. I have not yet had the opportunity to fully test the external microphone capabilities.
