MARMOTTrestles 15 Degree Women's Cold Weather Mummy Sleeping Bag

A cheap way for a dude to get a 0 deg bag!
I'm a 45-yr-old man, 5'8", 175 lb. I'm a mechanical engineer, Eagle Scout, and Scoutmaster. I bought this "Women's Trestles 15 Long" bag for myself to use as a 0 degree bag for cold weather camping. Let me explain...I bought this to replace a 30-yr-old mummy bag from when I was a kid, which just doesn't keep me warm anymore. Also, temp ratings on sleeping bags have changed since then. The "EN" rating represents three different values: a COMFORT rating, a LIMIT rating, and an EXTREME rating. This "Women's 15" bag has a COMFORT rating of 13.8F, a LIMIT rating of 0.1F, and an EXTREME rating of -37.8F. See attached picture of the label on the bag liner itself. [The extreme rating is where you probably won't no-kidding die of exposure. The limit rating is where a male with clothing layers would sleep OK. The comfort rating is where you'll actually feel warm while camping in the cold. Men's bags are sold based on the LIMIT rating, while women's bags are sold based on the COMFORT rating.]For comparison, I own two Men's Trestles 15 bags for my teenage sons. One bag is older (2015) and doesn't have the full EN labeling on it, but the stuff sack says "EN Tested 11.8F / weight 3 lbs 14 oz / Spirafil Synthetic". The newer (2018) men's Trestles 15 stuff sack says "EN Limit 16.0F / weight 3 lbs 6.1 oz / Spirafil LT Synthetic", and the label inside the bag itself says "EN 13537 tested Comfort 27.3F / Limit 16F / Extreme -17F". I have used the 2015 bag on tent campouts with temps in the 20's and 30's and woke up cold, needing to add a sweatshirt layer. These Trestles 15 bags are excellent bags. Well crafted, with great features. Very compact and lightweight. Fantastic price performance. They've worked great for my boys, so I bought one of my own! And I took a gamble and I cleverly selected the women's version, and I was right!...This Women's Trestles 15 Long bag is labelled on the stuff sack as "EN Tested 13.8F / weight 4 lb 8 oz / Spirafil Synthetic". Yet, as I said above, it has an EN LIMIT rating of 0deg. So for a male, it's a zero degree bag! That's also why it weighs more than the Men's Trestles 15. Another difference with the women's bag is it is shorter, and slightly wider, than the men's bags. That's great for me because I'm not very tall, and the few extra inches of girth makes is easier to get dressed and undressed while remaining inside the mummy bag (a key benefit in cold camping). The red color on the bag is a little bit more purple-ish than it appears onscreen. But still manly enough. And yeah it says WOMEN'S on the outside of it in two places, but I'm comfortable enough with my gender identity not to worry about it.I'll admit, I haven't taken it camping yet because it just arrived today. I tried the fit and it is good. And obviously I confirmed all the stats for it firsthand, as described above. I'll update this post after I use it on our next cold-weather campout. One final note: As expected, the stuffed/packed size of this Women's 15 is indeed slightly larger than the Men's 15. The stuff sack is the same size, but it doesn't compress as much. I'm not surprised that it's a little bigger, and it's not a big enough difference to change my mind.Update 2020-12-07: I took this bag tent camping in 30deg weather and I was comfortable with just light pajamas (which I changed out of while still in my bag next morning! Oh yeah!) Also, the shape of this bag’s hood was very pleasant to sleep in, unlike others I’ve used.

THE best bag for your buck!
I bought the “long,” as I’m taller than the ideal for the normal bag. If you’re a super athletic build, this may not be the bag for you. That said, if you’re built like a not-exactly-pro-athlete middle aged tall chick, THIS is the bag that is truly the cat’s meow (and we own a couple of those, but... meh... I don’t want a bag that I can just barely zip and is like sleeping in a sock!). I haven’t tested the 15* down that far yet, but I have a trestles 30 that’s been tested down to 30 and it was great. I expect this one will deliver just as beautifully. Super pleased with this bag.

So cozy!
I’ve used this several times now, and it’s so warm! I sleep cold, so I feel like every sleeping bag I try is too cold - but not this one! This one is perfect!I haven’t taken it down to 15*, but but I’ve slept comfortably over chilly nights in shorts and a T-shirt, so I’m pretty sure it could handle freezing temperatures easily, especially with long underwear and socksThe only imperfection is that it’s heavy and bulky, so it’s better reserved for car camping and boat camping. I’ve had to buy another (tragically less cozy) sleeping bag for backpacking

A nice bag.
Overall the bag is great. love the dual zippers at the top. It makes getting in and out easier. I gave it a 4 because it is not as warm as it is rated. Needed an extra blanket in 30 degree weather. A liner would probably work.

Warm!
Bought two for family members. Both of them said they slept great. Stayed warm all night every night without issues.Bag packs up easy and small, with little weight. Perfect for different types of camping. And the zipper works! Doesn't hang on the fabric. So for its as good a quality as my high dollar bag. A great deal for the price. This was a very good purchase. I recommend!

Awesome!
I tested this bad last weekend in the mountains with temperatures around 35-40F and I was very warm all night. Good quality and I`m happy with my purchase. My brand new sleeping pad turned out to be defective and leaked the very first night so I ended up sleeping on the tent floor for 2 nights and without this sleeping bag I would be freezing and super uncomfortable. Will buy again.

The Marmot Trestles 15 Sleeping bag is a fantastic purchase. My fiancee has already used this bag on one extremely cold overnight in the mountains here in Alaska and it worked great, in fact it was so warm she had to unzip it a bit to regulate temperature. While it may not be the lightest or smallest stuffing bag out there it is light and small when considering the price point. A first rate product. In addition to this one I have a men's Trestles 15 I have used for years and it has held up to much abuse and all kinds of conditions. I highly recommend this bag to anyone putting together a backpacking set up on a budget. You won't be sorry.
