Great Garage door opener, but Read the fine print!
Purchased and installed the Garage opener myself, and did not have any issues that others are complaining about. Because I researched the unit, and browsed thru the online manual, Before I purchased. You should research before buying as well. ( hopefully that's why you're reading this )Hardware installation was really easy. Didn't even need the manual for most of it. The belt drive assembly was the only tricky part, requiring a few quick glances at El Manual.Setting the Raised and Lowered door limits was also pretty easy, once I read the 3 or 4 sentences of instruction. If you're the kind of person who can't change their own oil, then get an installer to do it ( no judgement if that's you ) , but on a difficulty scale of 1 to whatever, this is a 1. I've put together IKEA stuff that was tougher.Battery backup is a great feature. The battery itself is rather small, but I did uplug the power cord and the battery was able to raise and lower the garage door several times easily. I gave up testing before the battery ran out of power, so capacity seems sufficient to make it thru short emergencies. This unit is amazingly quiet. Maybe my old unit was crap. But now, from inside the house, no one can hear or feel the door open. So the App Alert is the only way to tell if the kids are trying to sneak the car out of the house late at night. The opener seems to have a Soft Start and a Soft Stop, so there are no Clunks or Bangs. Just a smooth ramp up in power when starting, and smooth slow down at the other end. There is also an Auto Close feature that will try to close the door if you forget, assuming that the Safety sensors are satisfied. The LED lights are definitely brighter than probably every other opener. They provide Plenty of light to see when getting in or out. There is also a Motion sensor with adjustable times for auto off, from1.5 to 4.5 minutes, if you enable it.The Wifi Feature, and mainly the Automation feature is a bit of a gimmick to me. The Free part is that you get Alerts when the door is Opened and Closed, if you want it, and can Open, Close and setup Guests from your phone. Do you really need to talk to Alexa to open your garage door? The default setup is for a 7 foot high garage door. Other heights do require additional pieces. Not a big deal if know it when buying.I also have a HomeLink compatible car, which was not the easiest thing to program. The Opener uses Rolling Codes, which is More Secure, but it does require a bit more setup in the Car and on the opener. This was more related to my specific car, than the opener itself. YouTube is great for instructions, if your car is supported. There is a HomeLink Website link, found in the Online Manual. So make sure to check if your car is Compatible, or you may need to purchase a Homelink Bridge, or just use the included remote.Happy with the unit so far, and would say the features are worth the premium in price. Good luck with yours!

Very quiet, works well with phone app but not Alexa
This is a huge upgrade from our old opener. Everything from the bright lights to the notifications on the phone app, it’s a complete package.Runs very quiet except for the whir noise some people complain about. I don’t mind a slight sound, as long as the motor lasts a long time. Chamberlain was recommended by our garage door installer, and we trust them. The motion sensor is a nice feature, turns the lights on when you walk into the garage. I’ll have to find a new use for the old light switch/outlet since these lights are the only lights you’ll need. Very bright, and cover the entire garage.I like the display on the control pad, alternates between the temp and time. The menu lets you customize many features the way you want. Including WiFi for smart home controls. The downside: I am angry they charge a subscription fee for compatibility with Alexa, it’s the one thing I don’t like about this chamberlain system. The phone app works fine, takes a little longer to open/close the door than I expected but it does work. I set up notifications to let me know when the door is opened, but I’m still trying to find out how to set up a way to let me know I left the door open at night. I’ll figure it out.We had professionals install the opener while replacing the garage door, so I can’t offer feedback about ease of installation.Overall a great opener, but I don’t know why chamberlain is being greedy and charging for Alexa compatibility. Maybe they don’t like amazon, or are teamed up with a rival smart home company like Nest, it’s not fair to customers.

The best garage door opener
Im my honest opinion, this Chamberlain belt drive opener is the absolute best garage door opener that you can buy. I purchased it about a year ago, but I wanted to a while give it some time before I submitted a review on it. All I can say is wow! It is belt driven and it is so quiet. Setup was also faulty easy and I did it all myself in a couple of hours without any help. It is a complete night and day difference between this opener and my old chain drive opener. I am blown away by how smooth it operates and how incredibly quiet it is. The LED light is also very very bright. This is one of the other selling points for this opener, and I can see why. I no longer have a dark unlit garage, because the light is outrageously bright and fills up every inch of my oversized 2 car garage. The wall control panel is really nice too. It displays the temperature of the room, and also allows you to control a ton of settings. You can also hook this up to your wifi system if you want to, and control the garage door with an app on your phone. I really like that feature. If I’m outside in my yard, and need to open the garage door, i just pull out my phone, open up the app, then tap one button and up goes the garage door. I’m very happy I chose this model for my garage.

9/10 would buy again.
The 1381 was a significant upgrade from my previous chain driven garage door opener. The belt drive is very quiet and doesn’t sound at all like my previous door opener which growled like an un-oiled 50cc two stroke. Install was a little time consuming but simple enough, all the wires used for the garage door opener are basic double wires so with some marretes or in my case some solder you can reuse any previous garage door wiring. It should also be noted the exterior combination controller works with a 9v battery and is wireless. Some of the features I found about after the install were; The safety sensors come with mounts that clamp directly onto the garage door rails really nice if you have exposed concrete foundation where the sensors are supposed to be. There are multiple settings available from the LCD door opener time/battery reserve/an auto close timer 1-5min/remote lockouts/and quick programming of new remotes and their features (lights). Programming the door raised and lowered heights is accomplished digitally directly on the motor and was also very straight forward. A lot of the complementary apps that allow you to control your garage door through wifi are pay to play but the included myQ app works well enough and is a nice additional peace of mind if you frequently forget to close your garage door like me.The 3100 lumen lighting is quite nice.I have a single gripe and that is the maximum timer on the motion sensor lights is 4.5 minutes I would have preferred 15-20 but as I mentioned before you can program the lights to any button on your remotes and I am still undetermined if they follow the same 4.5 minute timer when activated manually.
