Very good material , but the sheaves are one , not separate

Diasaster. Pulleys not independent.
Pulleys not independent. So...it tangles up. Rope jumps pulleys. A lot of friction. Constantly having to reposition rope.

Rope kept jumping from the sheave unless pulling strait down
I wanted to use this to hoist items from the floor of the garage into the attic above the garage.I didn't like the performance of this double block and tackle. Each block has 2 sheaves, but the sheaves are 1 solid unit. To be fair, the machining is nice, but the each sheave should be independent of each other because each sheave rotates at different rotational speeds. For example, since they are not rotating independently, when you pull the rope the sheave it is threaded through needs to rotate more than the other sheave in the same block. They can't rotate independently and therefore the rope that you're pulling will slide more across its sheave than the rope passing through the other sheave in the same block. Also, if something went wrong, I didn't want it to fall on my head. So I stood off to the side. When I did, the rope often jumped off the sheave.

Smooth Running Ball Bearing Block and Tackle
Product Reviewed: Hoist Pulley System Heavy Duty Stainless Steel for $44TL;DR; Shielded Ball Bearings; Smooth Running; rope fixture may lead to FrayingI keep a variety of pulleys around for block and tackle work and I don’t have a specific use case for this one. This is a nice piece of kit. The pulleys are all ball bearing on shielded bearings which means they can be lubricated with a drop of oil and should be able to be maintained indefinitely. The rope has a light feel to it, not heavy duty but very serviceable and has a smooth surface but is easy enough to grip. The body of the block and tackle is stainless steel and nicely finished. The load capacity rating feels about right in a pinch I think you could pull an engine with this thing. The one weakness of this system is how the rope is secured. It passes through a thin piece of Stainless sheet so the full tension of the line will be on a fairly narrow edge. I feel this will lead to premature fraying on that part of the line.4 stars with the one execution error noted above. Not cheap but I find something of this quality to be quite good value. How I review:Reviews start with 5 stars and I subtract points.- 0 for value but I try to provide guidance-0.5 to -3 for product not matching description e.g. stainless steel is actually plated steel-0.5 to -3 for product missing badly on executionI select products carefully so low (1-3 scores) are rare but detailed comments and critiques almost always are in the review. Most of my reviews come out 4-5 range. If possible I dismantle or destroy items to examine inner workings.

Helpful Pulley that Works Poorly Due To Incorrect Design
My RamblingsWhether lifting, pushing, or pulling, we humans have found a myriad of ways to amplify our native strengths to move ever larger loads. In comes the humble Pulley and rope (a.k.a. Block & Tackle), to provide us the the mechanical advantage of a super hero. So let's take a closer look at this one.To the Point or TL;DRLacking independent rotating pulleys required for an efficient block (see FYI below), Lightweight rope, Solid metal (except the rope), Holds 150lbs.Quick FYIA Block is a set of pulleys wherein each wheel (pulley) works independently of the others. If they do not work independently, then the rope on one of the pulleys will slip because of the speed difference. This causes unneeded friction and premature wear. Since these things have been around for 4,000 years, you would think someone would get it right. Why I Ordered ThisBuilt a small pulley system to get heavy storage boxes on top shelves in garage. Like what you see on old-timey port scenes with the platform and four ropes to the corners. 150lbs give or take with platformThe Good StuffIt works for my light load and set up. It is a solid piece of metal equipment. I believe the pulley could handle 1,100lbs.The Bad StuffAs per above, it lacks independent pulleys/wheels to make this work correctly, so the rope on one side is always moving faster/slower than the other. This reduces your mechanical advantage, causes friction, and will wear your rope faster. And I wouldn't trust that rope to hold 1,100 lbs. Get a better rope.Me Final ThoughtsI would look elsewhere for a block & tackle and be sure it has independent pulleys. Also, if you are really loading your equipment, please be safe and get some rope you can verify its load capacity. When a rope snaps, it can do some nasty damage. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Hope it helps! All the best, Just BenjaminReviewed: Brand: SHINICO Cost: $ 43.99 at time of review.Hoist Pulley System Heavy Duty Stainless Steel, Snatch Swivel Block Double Pulley with 25m/8mm Rope, Bearing Inside, for Lifting, Kayak, Garage, Winch, Hunting, Loading 1100lb

Oh, So Nice
If you are looking at this hoist, you've probably seen, or used, the kind which are made from aluminum? With some plastic parts, even? And, the ever-present polypropylene rope? And, now, maybe, you're looking for something more substantial? Stop right here. This one has actual bearings. Like in a real piece of machinery. Other than the 75-foot, 5/16", braided nylon rope, it's made from stainless steel. The material in the main frame is 0.105" thick and is 1.1" wide. The 304 stainless eyes are made from 5/16" material and the pulleys are 1.9" in diameter. The axle bolts look to be around 3/8".Compared to those discount store hoists, this one is a super-star. It's just way better. When using this one, you're not thinking, "Is this thing going to hold together?" Instead, you have confidence that it will. On top of that, if you appreciate well-built machinery, this thing looks good enough to eat. What's more, if it ever needs service, its parts are bolted together for easy disassembly, inspection and maintenance. It's a keeper.
