BEST iPAD SWING ARM STAND ON THE MARKET... PERIOD!
I can make that bold claim because I literally purchased ALL of the most popular "Swing Arm" desk mount iPad stands on Amazon in my hunt for the ultimate desk mounted adjustable "Swing Arm" product. The prices of these stands typically range from as low as $25.00 up to $49.95 for the "Jusmo LS31". And then we have this product at the very top of the cost range, all alone at $99.99.With the price of this one being double the cost of the Jusmo L31, I was reluctant to spend over 100 bucks for something like this, but after trying and returning the first half dozen of the cheaper alternatives due to various FAILS, I decided to go ahead and purchase this stand. All the while fully expecting this one to be no better than something like the Jusmo L31 at twice the price.BOY WAS I WRONG!!!Long story short... This stand is worth every penny of that 100 bucks just based on the quality of the components alone! But it goes much deeper than that! This thing has a ton of positives going for it with basically only (1) negative which many other reviewers here have already touched on...That being the stiffness of the arm joints and the lack of user adjustable tensioners to dial in the ideal amount of tension for a smooth and easy arm movement front to back, while having enough tension to hold the iPad in place without It slowly sagging down over time due to gravity. (Something a lot of the cheaper stands suffered from with my iPad Air 5.) This stand simply does not offer the ability to loosen the arm joints, so you are not going to be able to grab your iPad and effortlessly pull the arm out towards you, or push it back into a stowed position either. Attempting that is likely to either tip the table over you have this thing bolted to, or your iPad is going to come off the stand in your hands due to the excessive amount of force required to get those super stiff arm joints to move! The best solution is to adjust the arm to the point that you have a good forward facing position at your work area, and then hopefully be able to swing the arm along the desk clamp pivot point while adjusting the mounting plate the iPad is attached to at the same time for your "STOWED" position. (Have a look at the attached photos showing my final setup next to my Arm Chair in my living room)We have listed the only major CON of this product, so lets now list all the PROs:1) Mates to the back of the iPad Air 5 seamlessly!!! Magnets are nice and strong and the mounting plate perfectly matches the dimensions of the iPad's chassis. In my case, it also nicely matches the "Space Gray" color of my iPad Air.2) SOLID all metal components add up to an incredibly robust look and feel. The materials used to make this stand are all of the highest quality and it shows everywhere. It also weighs twice as much as any of the other stands I tested, but that is a very good thing in this case. An overbuilt and over engineered Swing Arm iPad stand is long overdue if you ask me!3) Solid metal mounting plate doubles as a HEAT SINK! -- A fringe benefit to the all metal mounting plate is how well it helps to dissipate any heat coming off the back of the iPad during heavy use cases. I have really noticed a difference here and this feature is unique to this product because all the other stands I tested employed a "Plastic Clamp" design to hold the iPad onto the stand. The magnetic attachment design on this stand is far superior to that more common approach and makes the user experience far more satisfying with a solid feeling of quality whenever you adjust the iPad into position. It is also much easier to remove from the stand. Just pull it towards you and the iPad pops right off into your hands! VERY APPLE LIKE! Classy!4) YishanDirect (seller) is A CLASS ACT! ... I wrote to them through the seller contact section here on Amazon complaining about the arm tension issue and asking why they did not provide any way for the user to adjust the tension. They replied to me in less than (2) hours and after I messaged them. Their response to my complaint was to offer to send me another brand new personally inspected stand free of charge. Based on my issues, they suspected that the one I received was either a customer return or it somehow got past their QC process. According to the seller rep I conversed with in this exchange, each stand is thoroughly inspected and the arm tension is set at a "sweet spot" between being too tight while also being firm enough that the iPad will never sag down due to gravity over years of constant use.I just got a followup email from them as I was typing up this review confirming that my replacement stand has been shipped along with a UPS tracking number. They are not asking that I return the original stand to them either. Apparently, I am free to keep it as a backup, give it away to a friend or family member or whatever. I could theoretically return the original back to Amazon for a refund and essentially get this stand for FREE!But that idea just doesn’t sit well or feel right with me. Based on the overall quality of this product and the impressive customer service I have received from the seller, I believe in supporting companies that go the extra mile like this. So I have no problem spending $102 bucks for something this well made and functional. Even if it took a bit of messaging back and forth to finally end up with what I want. But even with the current stand I have and it's over the top arm tension, once I got everything positioned and adjusted for my use case, it is working out very well indeed! In fact, I would be more than happy using this original stand as-is! Once you get the arm adjusted to work with your setup, you really don’t need to keep messing with it. Like I said above… I just pivot the entire stand where it attaches to the desk mounting clamp assembly, while rotating the iPad back into horizontal alignment in the stowed position. Same goes for swinging the iPad back over to the left and positioned over the right armrest of my chair from the previous stowed position. The only component that needs to be physically adjusted between these two positions is the mounting plate and attached iPad.UPDATE to COME SOON! When my replacement stand arrives, I will update this review to cover the difference in overall arm performance compared to this unit I received from Amazon.Stay tuned!

Great execution, could use more engineering
I want to start by saying this is a phenomenal product. It feels and looks very high quality. It is not easy to bend the arms, and I view that as a positive because there is no “give” at the joints when you are using the touch screen. I work in TV/film and I’ve encountered arms that are meant to hold monitors etc where you don’t tighten anything to get the monitor in position and they often have a lot of “give” and loosen over time. Usually they have an exposed allen bolt that you can tighten, but they always end up loosening unless you use locktite. This arm feels like it will NOT loosen over time. That said, I would pay twice as much if it had a few more thought-out features:1. Wireless charging of iPad: the official iPad keyboard case allows you to charge your iPad wirelessly if the keyboard is plugged into power. It would be much more elegant if this had power running through the arm to the wireless contact points for the iPad. Maybe even with a swappable iPad mount to account for future or different sized iPad models. I just run my USB-C cable through the arm and it’s fine, but there is no hiding the cable, sadly, so it doesn’t look as clean as it could.2. I wish there was a better mechanism for the rotation of the iPad. Maybe some kind of ball joint that had an ergonomic locking element (not twist tighten). Right now it just rotates on one axis and hinges on the other two so it can be awkward to position it or make micro adjustments. The Y axis joint is easy to adjust, same for the rotation. But the X axis is stiff like the main joints, so having to use force to get it where you want it can be awkward with an iPad attached only by magnets. A locking ball joint would solve all of these issues and would be easier for my brain to angle it how I want it quickly.3. I wish the 3rd joint from the base (and/or the 2nd joint) could rotate at the joint. The whole arm rotates 360 degrees at the base, which is great. But you can’t really have the arm extending away from the viewer/user at the base, and then angle the rest of the arm in a different direction. Use cases would be angling the arm around desk obstacles, or mounting it to a chair or nightstand, extended away from viewer, and angling it to the left or right so that the screen is directly in front of them. This one seems like the easiest to implement, and the most crucial. You can find work arounds based on where you place it, but since it has a clamp style mount, sometimes there isn’t a good place to clamp it in your space where extending it in a straight line from the base is ideal.I wouldn’t be writing all this of I didn’t love it though. I’m just hoping this kind of feedback catches on and gets back to some engineer who can improve it. I’ve attached this permanently to a little cart that I use around the house, office, workshop, and in bed for watching shows/videos, playing games, browsing the internet, and general productivity. This thing is PERFECT for carts since it solves some aforementioned positioning issues with the design, quick release thanks to magnets, keeps cart free for anything else you use the cart for. Great for anyone, but I know TV/film best so I’ll say it’s great for camera or audio carts, since iPads can be used with such a variety of workflows.I’m in love, and hoping for a v2.0 sometime in the future. For now though, it’s perfect.
