Not his very best (in my opinion)
Love Joe Brown's ukulele version songs but this collection was mostly other unfamiliar songs so I was disappointed.

What a talent
As mentioned in my reviews of his other recordings.Joe still has what it takes to entertain the audience.Age certainly has NOT diminished any of his talents, if anything it has added to them.

'REMAINS ONE OF THE 60'S FAVOURITES'
'Joe brown' was allways a joy to watch with his cheeky smile, because of an old 'pal' of mine i did actually see this guy on stage in the early 60's.In 1962 he topped a variety bill, the 'Beatles' were a suporting act, i regret this was not the show i saw.He first charted back in 1960 with 'Darktown Strutters Ball' which charted at number '34' mind you back then you had to see a lot of45's to even climb that high in the chart, completion was fierce, record sales were booming. Before he cracked the Top 10 in 62' he did achieve a couple more lower order successes with 'What a Crazy World Were Living in'(Chart '37' 1962) and 'Shine' (Chart '33' 1961) his big-break Chart-Wise was with 'Picture Of You' which peaked at number '2'Of course 'Joe' recorded many numbers that many of us remember him by, that didn't chart. like 'I'm Henery the Eighth I Am' and'A Lay-about's Lament' among them (the latter not included on this release)Among his other Chart -Hits we remember from 'Joe and the Bruvver's' 'It Only Took A Minute' (Chart '6' 1962) 'That's What LoveWill Do' (Chart '3' 1963) and 'Sally Anne' (Chart '28' 1963) he did of course have one or two more lower-order successes duringhis three years of early popularity, as well as one or two after '63.'Joe' now 73 years of age still tours in 60's revival shows, 'Joe' a great guitarist, memorable vocalist, great stage performer.'Joe Brown' is among many great artists from back then that many of us still remember with fondness.

OLDIE BUT GOLDIE
I first saw the Best of Joe Brown CD on Amazon for the full price and although I like his music could not buy it then as was waiting for new CD player so, by the time I bought the CD it was under £5.00 great price from Amazon. The CD itself is brilliant and shows just what great songs Joe Brown performed and what versatile musicians he and his band are, he plays the mandolin, banjo, ukeleli, and Guitar to name but a few.Without wanting to bore you all with a track by track listing, I would say this is a very good selection of good songs and well worth walking down memory lane, and getting away from the manufactured modern X factor format, so if you like Joe Brown go on order the CD from Amazon, great value. As a footnote the first CD I received had a damaged CD case and after contacting Amazon they sent me a new replacement CD without any fuss, and a paid return label for the damaged CD case, thankyou Amazon....

50 years and still going Strong
What can you say 50 years as an entertainer and he's still got it see him live and it's always a great show. This is a well balanced selection of Joe Brown songs covering these 50 years. There is no deep heavy meaning in the songs it is all good light hearted pop music.Probably the only meaningful song is the beautiful "See You in My Dreams" played to close the Tribute to George Harrison Concert, this is very moving on that particular DVD.If you like the pop music, popular folk of the last 50 years buy this.
