Veil of Secrets

A very enjoyable book incorporating suspense, mystery, romance and a bit of time travel. The main character Alice is an ambitious young journalist who is trying to advance her career and gets involved with a wealthy, mysterious (and handsome) stranger who offers her a dream job working for him. That’s when the mystery starts to evolve.G.A. Charnock obviously planned this plot meticulously, it is well written and incorporates just the right amount of suspense to make putting it down difficult.Great to have a new author of this calibre on the block. Can’t wait for the next book in the series to be published.

I just loved reading “Veil of Secrets” by G A Charnock. It was a real action-packed, roller-coaster of a read with a very likeable, feisty main character in Alice. Though the clues were there, I wasn’t sure who to trust at times - there were so many enjoyable twists and turns. This was a very satisfying read with a powerful, tantalising ending - and I just can’t wait to read the next part of this intriguing series. I would highly recommend this début novel. Gee S.

Excellent debut novel. Such a page turner that's well written and full of intrigue. Depth of characters unfold and aspects of their lives take shape and interlink. Surprises towards the end as the book twists its focus. Loved it and can't wait for the second instalment to see where it takes Alice and Victor.

I thought it was a little over the top emotionally. Leading to unrealistic characters. The main character was portrayed as emotionally overwhelmed yet we had to believe she was an exceptional character. My wife was disappointed after reading its build up.However there were merits regarding the general writing.

Not my usual genre but I thoroughly enjoyed this well written and thought out book. The way the story weaves together and comes to a thrilling conclusion is very clever and you immediately warm to the tenacity of the main protagonist, Alice. Highly recommended!
