iFixit Jimmy - Ultimate Electronics Prying & Opening Tool

I purchased this tool to help me change batteries in my iPods and iPhones. It works perfectly, slipping into small, tight spaces that require the tool’s thin makeup. It isn’t sharp like a knife, more like a not very thick putty knife. The price was very good value for the money, as this tool will likely outlast my work on these devices for years to come.

This the perfect electronic gadget prying tool! Meaning it is for more delicate work, not brut force tasks... After reading several of the negative reviews, I almost didn't buy it, I'm glad I took the chance! I highly recommend this tool, it is very well made and will last a very long time if you use as intended.

I bought this in addition to some other iFixit tools. I use this tool more than any of the others. The blade is sharp but it is stamped metal so one side of the blade has an edge. This may seem to be an indications of poor craftsmanship but it gives the tool a thin edge to open the device being serviced. The handle is contoured to provide a good grip making it easier to use. I think it was a good value for the money. it has helped me several times to open the various object I was repairing.

I wish I could give this 5 stars, ifixit stuff is normally always very good quality. But this pry tool out of the box WILL damage your work piece. Mine had a sharp burr on the edge of the blade left from the stamping process. If you don't file/sand it off, it will badly scratch plastic... Other than that, it is a solid tool for prying apart stuff!

This is a great tool for helping in prying open electronics! It's sturdy, has a firm blade, and just works! A tip for those new to electronics repair, since it's metal, make sure you know when to use it and when not to, as you could easily cut ribbon cables, but this is definitely a must-have!

Amazing prying tool for what it does! Easily opened the sides of my Xbox Series controller and was able to take out the broken bumper plastic. Very durable during the first few uses. Highly recommend!

I’ve used a few different prying tools over the years and this one immediately stands out for control and feel. The blade is thin enough to get into tight seams without feeling flimsy, and the handle gives good grip without being bulky. It’s rigid enough to apply pressure without flexing, which makes a big difference when opening glued electronics or clipped casings. I’ve used it on small electronics and handheld devices and it feels far less sketchy than cheaper plastic tools. Not something you use every day, but if you ever open electronics, this is one of those “buy once, cry never” tools.

Das iFixit Jimmy ist ein tolles Werkzeug. Ich nutze es für den Austausch defekter Displays bei Handys und Tablets. Das beste Tool, das ich hierfür gefunden habe. Ich kann es sehr weiterempfehlen. Hervorragende Klinge, liegt ergonomisch und leicht in der Hand (kein Verkrampfen bei längerer Benutzung), lange Lebensdauer (bei fachgerechter Nutzung)! Absolut empfehlenswert von meiner Seite!

The handle makes it more comfortable to use than a normal spudger. The downside is that you may be inclined to use more leverage on the thin metal blade and possibly bend it. It is a good tool to have in your kit.

I wish a tool like this was with the repair kit I ordered first. After failing with opening my iPad and looking for a tool that actually works I found this and yes it worked great.
