This is a great spade. Similar to the one my grandad had many years ago. It's a great size and a good weight. 10 year guarantee so I much be tough and durable. A quality piece of gardening equipment

No dislikes whatsoever.My past farming experience with hand tools demands that my choice of spade for bringing uncultivated areas within my 2 acre garden plot back into use requires a well made spade which can be used for deep digging.The Spear & Jackson spade which I purchased is the correct tool for the job in hand and for other digging jobs within the vegetable plot - I am delighted with it and would recommend it to any serious gardener.

I bought this to replace my existing 30 year old Spear & Jackson spade. It seems a bit heavier, not quite as well balanced, as the old one; also the head of it is set at a different angle, so it doesn't go as straight down into the soil. It nonetheless looks and feels like a very solid and robust tool. We'll have to wait and see if it (or me) lasts for another 30 years.

While it is a good sturdy spade which will give a good life span and do all the heavy work required of it, I was a little disappointed in it's description. For me an Irish spade has a completely flat and square face and this one is curved. I have kept it but will have to buy another type to suite what I want it to do.

Great for heavy digging particularly into stoney and chalk area's. Very tall handle and unless you are Desperate Dan you will find it not so good for continual use. Nice sharp spade head and will probably last a lot longer than others I have used.

Great spade easy to use and strong

I have never so angry at a company before, the spade is too big, too heavy, but most important of all is heavily spotted with RUST, so much for being new.Am returning at first opportunity, Spear and Jackson i am so disappointed with you.
