Dreadlock Management Syste, DMS Tool

Hi!!So I have been a certified loctician for about 12 years. I was blessed enough to be under the direct tutelage of the Founder and CEO of IFBA-Insitute of Fine Braidery Arts as well as the creator of the tool I am reviewing, Hana Carter. And my review is a proud five stars all around.Since the age of 16, I have used this tool. I have been using the same tool for the past 12 years and its brilliant. Its made out of a strong plastic material that is very flexible. Why is flexibility important when maintaining or creating locs?To create and maintain strong and healthy locs it's of the utmost importance to be as precise as possible to have an attractive end product. The flexibility and bendy nature of the tool allows you to create symmetrically balanced locs. You can use the edge of the tool to part the hair to create locs that willl all be same size. You can use the bendy nature of the tool to squeeze easily into the root of the loc where there is new growth to retighten the loc much easier and have much more long lasting results.Also, I've used the same tool for 12 years and it has never broke!! It's strong ya'll!!! The only reason I needed a new one is because I was doing my hair in the car and dropped it accidentally when I got out and lost it SMH!!! This tool will not break!!!If you are interested in creating, and maintaining healthy locs this is the perfect tool. I would never consider using something else.Finally, Hana Carter is the pioneer of this tool which is an interlocking specialization tool. This is what you need to tell your hair stylist to use when they are creating your locs. Better yet, hit up the source, Hana Carter. She has been my mentor for 12 years and I have perfected my craft thanks to her intelligent and hollistic view of natural hair cair amd impeccable design of the tool.Ps- please don't get your locs palm rolled, it's legit the worst thing you can do to the roots of your hair. Tell your loctician to use this tool and if they dont know how hit Hana up!!!!! She has classes!!!!! She is the greatest teacher, so kind and patient and most importantly is one of the most important pioneers of natural hair care in South Cental LA since the 90s. Her shop IFBA, was a crux of the community. Her beautiful and kind energy attracted many of us to her and she sold us with her impeccable craft and meticulosly thought out theory of natural hair care.For me having this tool is a no brainer, so buy it I promise you will not be disappointed.

Awesome interlocking tool. I've been searching for the right tool for my self started and maintained micro locks. I've purchased crochet hooks, rug-latching hooks, and all manner of expensive tiny metal large hole needles that have gone lost already. This IFBA Dreadlock Management tool is LARGE and flexible. The flexible loop end allows for inserting larger pencil diameter lock, as well as micro locks like mine. The loop head is so flexible, it allows one to interlock while not having to look in a mirror. I can interlock my micro locks by manipulating the loop head with my fingertips. That is how I manage the interlocking rotations. The IFBA is soft plastic. So, it doesn't hurt the scalp. It does snag a little though. Still, I am pleasantly surprised by the strength of the tool, because I thought it might break with the occasional tugging. I appreciate the length of this tool, as I can get to the hard to reach angles of my head by feel. And IFBA gives THREE interlocking tools per package. Thank you! Those other tiny metal interlocking tools that cost $20 are overpriced, as one is surely going to lose that tool, satin pouch or not. The IFBA tool is so large, it's less likely to get lost easily. And three tools for the price brings ease of mind. I will not get caught in a jam without an interlocking tool that works, when I need one. This tool also has a pointed end with hook for lock repair. One can also use that pointed catch hook for interlocking, if that's your method. This is the best interlocking tool, IMO. Glad I took a chance on it.

Product looks exactly like the photo. There were 3 in pack. This is NOT a small tool! It appears to be intended for longer hair! At (5.5 inches it looks smaller in pic) it was a worthless purchase for me! It's only of value if you can actually use the product!

There are so many products out there for locking and interlocking that I don't recommend but I have to admit this is a good one. It is a versatile to that can be used on the smallest lock to the largest lock. It is very flimsy but that allows you to manipulate it with different lock sizes. What an amazing product!!! The IFBA Dreadlock Management System is one of the most efficient and effective products on the market for managing locks. I have been using the DMS tool for years on my own locks, and it has allowed me to maintain locks that are clean, professional, and polished at all times. Not only is it easy to use, but it is very durable, lightweight, and flexible. You never have to worry about it pulling or getting caught in your hair. The soft-pointed tip also makes cleaning up those parts and any lock repairs much easier. I have tried twisting and palm rolling my locks, but it never stays and always ends up unraveling whenever I sweat or my locks get wet. Not a problem with the DMS tool, as my locks stay in place until it grows out in a few weeks. The instructions included with the packaging are simple, straightforward, and easy to follow. I highly recommend this product to all lock wearers, and even those who could use it for latch hook or crochet braid/hair styling. You cannot go wrong with the DMS tool!

I've been maintaining my locs using this tool since I loc'd over a decade ago. It's consistent and the video from IFBA on how to use the tool is perfect for learning how to start and maintain locs. I enjoy this tool immensely and recommend it to anyone looking for an easy to use tool to maintain gorgeous locs.

This tool is amazing. I ordered this tool because of the hook end (looks just like the SL tool). I am going to install microlocs in my mom's hair and wanted to see if this would be better than my latch hook. And it is. I had to teach myself how to use the hook end (there are no tutorials on using it to tighten microlocs only to repair locks with holes. This is much better than using a latch hook. For $10 you get three tools. I definitely think this is a great buy.
