Reluable emergency matches & case
These “lifeboat” matches are pretty much the survival kit standard because they reliability work. Give off a big hot flame from their huge heads and are truly waterproof. They will light even after a pretty good dousing., and rain won’t put them out. They’re about the size of an old fashioned kitchen match (like those great strike anywhere ones that are so hard to find now). The only down side is that these are NOT strike anywhere & the flame doesn’t last all that long, about 15-30 seconds, so keep the striking strip safe and have your fine kindling ready. The matchsticks are pretty strong, but can break or split if handled too clumsily. The match safe works well for storing these matches and keeping the striker strip dry. It’s very tough and I’ve never cracked one. This is a viable means to start fires in wet conditions, but not completely foolproof.

Best matches in this category
Best matches on the market in this category. They most definitely are extremely functional, highly portable, the right size and completely easy to use, waterproof and they always light on the first strike.

Be prepared for anything
Fire is one of those things we usually take for granted. Use a match, lighter, etc. and you’re in business. Things change when you’re camping, hiking, or in an emergency situation and you can only bring whatever you can carry in a bag or pack. This is where having reliable fire in all kinds of weather really matters. These UCO storm proof matches do just what they say - provide a source of fire in wind, rain, and other outdoor conditions. The matches light easily, burn pretty intensely for about 8-10 seconds, and make easy work of igniting tinder, fire starters, or even a backpacking stove. I got to use these on a Boy Scout campout where the scouts were working on multiple fire building / fire starting methods. The Scouts realized that matches are convenient but using the RIGHT matches is key when you’re outdoors. They were able to start fires despite windy conditions and some slightly damp tinder. Since this pack comes with a water proof case (gasket included) they’re easy to put in a pack and know that they’ll stay dry. You also receive plenty of boxes to use for refills or to keep with other emergency supplies, etc. Overall, this is a solid choice to stock up and be ready for whatever life and the outdoors may throw your way.

Great product
Used in fire stater kits, great product. Plenty of size to hold and not be burnt. Tested in hight winds and had no issues. Filled fire kit with water and these were the only usable source left. After being loose in tin the coating did wear off of several but after putting in small zip bag they were very durable. Long burn time to help with damp tinder.

Good Match - Mostly
Well packaged and arrived quickly... I tested the closed case w/matches inside and it did keep the matches dry (a good "O" ring is the key). I tested the match in a 10-12 mph cross wind and had no problems getting it to light and achieve the complete burn time (burns like a mini flare). Where I had a problem was getting it to light in a soft rain - not sure if this was an issue with the striker plate being wet, or the match, or my technique or all three...regardless - no fire. Once I dried off the match and striker plate, it managed to light. So, a word to the wise, reliability in "wet" situations is suspect - your results may vary...enjoy!
