Decent Piece of Survival Kit--For a Bit
So one of the keys to survival prepping is to be adaptable, right? That means being ready to survive in a number of different situations and in a number of different ways. To that end, we should always be on the lookout for gear to achieve versatility. That's what I had in mind when I saw this dock net. Good size drop net for catching baitfish. Maybe some shrimp, maybe some crab, maybe even a bigger dish if done right. The net comes on a pop-up frame that takes about a second to get open. Also included is a length of nylon cord to lower and raise the net into the water. Pretty standard. Folded up, the net would fit in or on a backpack of probably 35L or more. But it would take up space. I'm thinking this thing will live more in my big tub of car supplies rather that my BOB.The reason I took off two stars are this. One, the net is made out of rubberized material. When it tears--and all nets tear--its going to be hard to fix. In fact, I'm going to try and find a nice nylon net to replace it. Two, the nylon draw cord could be thicker and longer; it's like an afterthought. That's going to get replaced with paracord. The frame seems pretty good.Overall, it's not a bad net, but it could be better. It will work in a pinch; I'm not sure how long it would last for everyday use without some modification.

Not the strongest
This should only be used for shore shrimping. I wanted to use it from a boat, but this is not a deep water net. Also, the crabs can easily break through this simple mesh. It is good for shrimp but will not last with the crabs in the water that will try to eat your bait and destroy your net. The flexibility and folding of this net is a plus however, but not the strongest materials.

Good for fishing at the river
My brother really likes how easy it is to use. It comes already set up you literally just pop it out and then throw it into the water. I thought it was a different material like wire but it's a nylon mesh. Waiting to use it for crabbing to see how it holds up against creatures with claws.
