I Spy Letters

The media could not be loaded.  Our 2-year-old loves this book and is really picking up the English letters very quickly because of it. They use a lot of examples and colorful pictures that help us be more interactive as we're reading the book to him. My biggest setback for this particular book is that they pair two letters per page. This confuses our little guy. I wish that they had put one letter per page instead.

I purchased I Spy Little Letters for Christmas for my little one because we already have the Little Book and Little Animals board books and my 16 month old absolutely loves them. She will bring those books over to us time and time again to read them and point out the different pictures to us. After having them for about 2 months she is already familiar with every item the book asked her to find as well as some other items on each page. I think that is what is so great about the I spy books because they can become new the more your child learns as you start to talk about more and more things on the page. Since I had not seen a picture of the pages when I purchased it I had different expectations of what it would be so hopefully these pictures will help you decide if it is right for your little one. I haven’t yet given the book to my daughter but based on other reviews I am hopeful that it will help her to learn her ABCs. Here’s what I think so far:What I like most:- only 2 letters per page making it a great INTRO to the alphabet and not too challenging for younger toddlers- A couple items on every page corresponding with the letters so your child can learn more than just one word for each letter.- The letters are large and take up most of the page making them easy to identify- Last page shows all of the letters together allowing you to challenge your child even further to identify the letters and maybe even remember a word that starts with that letter.- A good sized book to bring in a diaper bag- There are no backgrounds that can be distracting and make it hard to find the items (not the case with all I Spy books)- Very inexpensive considering this book will likely be used for a long time- It rhymes!!After thinking hard about any possible drawbacks, the only thing that comes to mind is that all the letters are uppercase and I have been told that it is best to start with lowercase letters since that is what your child will see most when reading.

I used to love this series when I was a child, so once my daughter began to show interest, I began to find and buy these for her. She loves them and always wants to read them and get more! Great for kids learning to find same vs different etcetera.

Bought (and received) this book new. It's a little on the "simple" side. Being that it's a paper back instead of board book, I was assuming it would be a little more challenging. I have a 4 yr old and it was simple for her, but she did still enjoy it as a new book. We got this for a friend. If I were purchase these in the future I will find one more challenging.Each page has about 4 lines, stating what to find. By looking at the cover, I thought that might be what each page looks like, but instead, each pages only has about 8 pictures. It's as if looking at the front cover, they took the "A" and the few pictures around it and used that for one page. So in essence, the front page represents more like 9 pages from the book.It looks like a great book, just not as advanced as I was hoping. This would be better for my younger daughter!

Grandchildren loved it!! They are 3 and 4. Perfect books for that age. The 4 year old found it easier than the 3 year old but they both enjoyed the book.

I have worked with children as a pediatric nurse for 31 years and have spent a great deal of time reading children's storybooks to the children under my care. I purchased "I SPY LITTLE LETTERS" for my 29 month old grandchild. There is no better way to give a young child a sense of pride than by asking them to find objects on the page of a book. I am a believer in the "I SPY" concept so we proceeded to read the book together. What a delightful book! It is colorful, cheerful and fun too. The pages will keep a child busy for a while for there is a lot to do. Colorful letters and easily identifiable objects and figures are to be found on every page. The book challenges a child to observe, find and verbally express their discoveries. What a sense of accomplishment it is for a child to be able to discover things. I highly recommend this little board book for toddlers. It is a terrific early introduction to reading.

We received this book as a gift for my 2 year old son and he LOVES it! This book, more than anything else, has been amazing in helping him identify the alphabet. He is much further ahead regarding his ABCs than his peers and I think this book is the reason. It is much more simple than the other I Spy books that we own and at first this bummed me out, but after reading it over and over, I think the simplicity helps him concentrate on identifying the letters and not getting lost in the objects. I especially like that the objects that are there start with the letter on the same page. For example on the page with the E, there is also an elephant. This gives us lots of cues for further discussion about each letter. The last page is my son's favorite, which has all of the letters and we always sing the ABC song while he points to each letter. I also recommend I Spy Little Numbers.

3歳の息子用です。容易に見つけられます。I spy のフレーズやそれぞれの単語を発話も楽しむことができます。

2歳の子がミッケ！シリーズが大好きで、糸井重里さんの訳も素晴らしいのですが最近アルファベットに興味を持っていて、ことABCに関しては、日本語で味わうには限界がある気がしてこちらを購入しました。I Spyシリーズのなかでも小さい子向き(日本語版では「ちっちゃなミッケ！」的な)なので左側の文章はI spy balloons on the letter Bといった簡単なもので、右の写真も背景のないシンプルな画面に大きなアルファベットとその字から始まるもの(Bならボタンやバス)などが数個あるのみです。でも、文章には触れられていなくても、写真の方を含めると様々な言葉を覚えられます。文では触れられていませんがBならballoonsの色がblueだったりWはwaveの絵だったり細部まで凝っています。そういう風に絵から読みとっていくと実は100こ近く関連の言葉が覚えられます。Pのページにまつぼっくりがあってまつぼっくりって英語で何だっけ？(pine cone)と調べてみたり鳥の巣(nest)は、英語圏の子にとっては小さい頃に触れる単語なんだなあとか子どもといっしょに大人も楽しめます。左の文の方に探すべきものの写真も載ってしまっているので探すのは簡単ですが小さい子には英語と写真を一致させて何を聞かれているかわかって逆にいいと思います。文に取り上げられていない物で知らない物でも「Where is a dinosaur？」みたいに聞いて教えてあげるうちに言葉だけで聞いても指差せるようになります。ペーパーバックで薄いのも良かったですがちっちゃなミッケ！のような丈夫さやコンパクトさはありません。Aは一字で1ページですが、BからWまでは二字ずつ、X・Y・Zはその字から始まる言葉が少ないのか三字でセットになっています。使い方次第でかなり活用できそうで大満足です。

有名だったので購入しました。プリスクールに通っているので、そちらで文字は習っているので、早速開いてアルファベットを読んでいました。男の子なので、中の絵に男の子が惹かれるようなおもちゃが多いともっと良かったかなと思います。

大文字のA-Zまでを網羅したI SPY。小文字はないです。NUMBERSと一緒に買いましたが、LETTERSの方がより簡単といえるでしょう。あちらは数字以外の単語のI SPYもあるのに対してこちらはほぼアルファベットを探すだけです。そのアルファベットも、ページにどーんと大きく表示されているので見つけるのも容易。ゲームとしては機能しないですが、アルファベットに親しむという目的でなら良いのではないでしょうか。

大きいサイズのI SPYとは全然違います。対象物が隠されているわけではないので。でもABCの学習用にはいいと思います。利用しています。学習用にはかなりよいですが、ワクワク感は普通のI SPYのほうが大きいかも、と、少し思うので星4つで。
