The history of a mighty tiny island.
This book tells the history of Jamaica in an easy to read but detailed way. It's fantastic.

Essential Reading
I read this book as a student in lower school in Jamaica. It sets out in a simple, easy to understand way, the early history of the island: from the first inhabitants to the arrival of Columbus and the beginning of Spanish colonialism, the arrival of the first African slaves to the English conquest. It traces the growth of the sugar estates and slave society, the expansion of slavery and the slave trade to the end of slavery and the beginning of indentured labour to the birth of modern Jamaica with independence on 6 August 1962. This History of Jamaica by Clinton Black is a must on the reading list for all students of Caribbean history.

Classic Historical Book
I am so happy that I was told about this book. So much of the history I did not know and it is great to read and see all the information on the country of my birth from ages gone by.A must purchase for any Jamaican or anyone who is interested in its history.

Very informative
Thought this was going to be an easy going book about Jamaica but I learnt so much more and understand why it is difficult to teach black history alongside normal history as it is still happening today but subtle

The product physically is Very poor.
I am very disappointed with the book in a physical sense. The book s' pages are very thin, the lettering and diagrams extremely poor not bright enough and leaves a lot to be desired. It's looks like something that has been photo copied from an orinal source.
