Q: Is the vent just a cut down the coat, or is the fabric folded in so there isn't an opening?

It is folded in a pleat, there is no slit opening in the back. This is an outstanding stylist coat. I ordered it for my sister's husband for Christmas and he loves it. For the price you can't beat it. It looks very nice on him. My sister was happy because he was very pleased with his coat. I felt good because my sister said sis you knock it out of the park, great job.
