Freshwater Life (Collins Pocket Guide)

Great little book for easy identification of small invertebrates. Bought for a school project as the are lots of good quality plates, good price and lightning delivery.

Very interesting, although some of this pond life does not seem to be present in the UK. Good illustrations. Personally I find the text a little small, but it does mean a lot of information is packed into a small book.

I help with pond dipping at my local RSPB reserve and always recommend this book to people who want to know more. Irritatingly, the RSPB itself won't stock it, perhaps because it doesn't sell for a big enough profit;but, in comparison with its competitors, this book contains far more information about the smaller animals that provide most of the interest for my 'customers'.This was my second copy. The last, well-used version, alas, got wet, and the pages of once-shiny paper proved impossible to separate.

This was bought to understand what insects etc live in our pond and nearby river. It is a very comprehensive book, covering plants, amphibians and the thousands of small critters that inhabit fresh water. Excellent reference book and small enough to transport.

Beautifully hand illustrated book with lots of detail and divided into clear chapters. Book isn’t too big to pack on travels (around A5 size). My child (10) loves it.

Excellent as we have come to expect from Collins field guides, small but packed with information and well illustrated. No one who has more than a passing interest in freshwater life should be without this book, which is small enough to carry into the field with you.

I bought this book as much for my grandsons as for myself. It gives us all a very comprehensive and beautifully illustrated and easy to use guide to a wide variety of species found in our surrounding area. My grandsons love to pond dip in our pond and now it is easy to identify the species they find there.
